Cigarette Lighter\USB Help! Do I need to go to the dealer???

Hey everyone new owner here in search of some help. This might be an easy fix so I’m hopeful someone can help before I make an embarrassing apt to BMW Service.

Roughly two weeks ago I was using my Escort radar detector by plugging in the cord into my cigarette lighter until I figured out the perfect mounting spot and hardwiring options. I ended up getting the Mirror tap kit and it couldn’t have been any easier installing it. Since then, I noticed my phone wasn’t being charged by the USB port near the cigarette lighter, and thought the cord was busted. After realizing the cord was fine, I noticed the cigarette lighter, and USB under the arm rest was also not working. I checked the fuses and sure enough one of the three fuses that is listed on the fuse diagram was burnt out. I replaced the fuse and was feeling all accomplished until I actually tried to use the USB port again to no avail. Every other fuse listed on the diagram was fine so now I’m at a loss.

Can anyone please offer any other troubleshooting techniques before I have to make a service call? Should I be worried about having hard wired the radar detector if I ultimately have to have the car serviced? Meaning would this cause any problems with my warranty?
Thank you in advance and I’m hopeful to get this resolved as soon as possible.

Sounds like a module issue. Go to the dealer and have them diagnose it (may require resetting that module).

Appreciate the response! I ended up taking it to the dealer and they said both usb ports malfunctioned and they need to replace both. I'm holding off on doing that for now because I dont want to be without my baby for a few days lol.

The USB by the cup holders does not charge that much. It has a lower current setting from BMW. I use a USB adapter in the cig lighter plug. It charges way faster. I have found USB charging capability varies from manufacture to manufacturer and models. My Chevy USBs charge great and my Infinity charges worse than my M2.
