I read somewhere that your head should be 2 finger widths distance away from the ceiling.

Now, who knows if that's true, but I much prefer to be able to see the entire hood of the car while driving so I have my seat high enough to accommodate that.

I'm 5'9" btw

As low as it goes! 5'8" short

I also sit relatively close to the steering wheel. (wrists rest on the top of steering wheel) Other family members who are shorter than me always move it back

I can't imagine sitting so high as to have 2 finger widths between my head and the roof. Sometimes I already feel like a bus driver.

I seem to remember reading a review and even Jeremy Clarkson mentioned the seat position was too high.

I'm 6'0" and have it at the lowest position. Feels perfect there aside from the stupid rotation bs. I love the car, but the angled seat still feels awkward.

Even my 1er's seat straight damn it!

I honestly never notice it. As for sitting with head 2 finger widths below the roof, that makes no sense since roof heights vary tremendously, even in our cars between those with moon roofs and not. The best seating position is clearly the one that gives you the best 360 degree vision.

I've tried many different ways to adjust my seat but just cannot seem to get comfortable. In my F30 I find the driving position to be a lot better.

I'm 5.8 and sit about mid way to the high point in the M2 with my eye level with the top of the dash and steering wheel. In this position I find the drivers side mirror obstructing my vision when turning. I also feel like I am hunched over and the centre console arm rest is too high! First world problems!

I'm also 6'0" and I have the seat as low as it goes with the bottom cushion tilted up significantly. It feels about the same as my old e46.

The car sits very high. I'm in the lowest position and almost hit the roof. I constantly feel like I could be a bit lower

Seat all the way down with the front of the cushion as high as it goes and the backrest set perpendicular to that. 6'1"

The BMW Introduction to Performance day I did last year was more interested in getting you closer to the wheel (elbows at right angles) than anything else as they wanted you to hold the wheel at 9 and 3 and not feed the wheel through your hands.
