From the i8 Spyder thread...M2 convertible coming in 2017. This also further solidifies that while the production of the M2 may be limited, it won't be low like the 1M and will last several years.

I told my doctor that everything was fine. However, after seeing that render, I've called him again to let him know that I have cancer.

edit: My better half has been warned that this will happen and she said that I can place a deposit now. My CA is currently trying to confirm with BMW NA on the options list and timeline.

Not much, my CA said I could put down a deposit as "rumor" has it that it will come out in 2017, but he has nothing official to back that up.
