I have a signed buyer's agreement for a jan-feb allocation. If they change model year and bump the price, I guess I'll be giving it up, unless the dealer is willing to stick to the agreement. I guess we have to see how big the increase is, but I bet it'll be more than 500 dollars, which is all I'll personally tolerate on principle.

ummmm, probably not
BMW dumped the residuals on the 2019s... you don't even want to know what those things lease out at now....

Around 2010, the most appealing part of a BMW was their dirt cheap lease rates, like 65% residual on 3 years, 15k miles, for some cars.. You could of been hood-rich and still be able to afford to drive a new Beamer for a few hundred dollars a month.. I know BMW took a bath on inflated residual after that and is now coming back down to earth, ever since .. So I guess you're right, I was just going off old information, from the last time I checked.. |

I’m super confused, can someone please enlighten me? I keep seeing people who got their car back this year claiming they have a M2C 2019 and now this thread stating that in 2019 it will be 2020, what’s the deal with it?

In North America, our model years often do not match the calendar year - so starting in March of 2019, BMW will be making the 2020 M2 - at least for us here in North America. I believe it is different depending on the country you are in.

I'm am guessing that they'll be a few minor upgrades like the BMW PA system where basically you and control the car via saying "Hey BMW" then saying said command. I only guess this because when they released a video for it a 2 series featured in the video and the video was tilted coming in 2019. |

Thanks for the explanation. I placed an order the other day and have been told I'm looking at a March build slot. Doubt it'll mean anything different for me though in Australia.

For example, when the 2011 E9x M3 model year was started, it was March 2010. Many changes were done at that time ranging from engine bearings to numerous of changes. In September of 2010, they did a number of additional changes/updates (hence the common "2011.5" designation you might see in reference to 2011 M3s). Hence I would suspect there will some changes/updates forthcoming in March production onward....we'll have to wait and see.

That must mean they're probably in like the gestation stage of developing the brand new generation of G87 M2s.. Can't wait to see what they do with it and what motor they decide to shoehorn in that small chassis.. Test mules should be running around by this time next year.. |

And I don't mean smallest series number. actually small enough to toss around like the 1M/M2/M2C are. EDIT - aren't we decently sure that the car will come with a detuned version of the S58? That's supposed to debut in the X3M/X4M first, then the G80/G82, then the M2, right?
