I just picked up my new M2C on Saturday, and, wow the exhaust is an eye sore. I see these paint results and they look pretty good, but I was wondering, has anyone thought to powder coat this thing? Is that possible?

I realize it'd need to be a high-temp capable powder coat, and more costly than a few cans of Kryon, but I feel like a gloss black might actually look good. Am I crazy?

Question for you M2C owners..

Great job camouflaging it but does this scrotum goiter ever rub over driveways or speed bumps?

It seems to hang pretty low for a reasonable amount of ground clearance.

Unless you intend to wash it like the rest of the car, it won't stay glossy long.

The rear of the vehicle seems to have significantly more ground clearance than the front. So the only clearance issues I've had so far are with the front of the vehicle. I don't think the muffler will be a problem.

FWIW I'm only about 600 miles in.

Holds up fine. There's absolutely no reason not to do this.

If I had the C , that will just be an excuse for me to delete the muffler lol.

4000miles in and still perfect.

However, the cows udder will be gone by the end of the month for an Akrapovic exhaust system.

Yes I keep all my OEM parts.

In the UK the Akrapovic exhaust starts from £4100 for just the rear slip on part. £2000 for the Akrapovic linkpipe.

Anyone not painting the muffler?

Still "on the fence" after almost 3 months -- would like to keep the car in stock condition, but . . . Trying to not question the BMW design team -- they surely must know better than me!?!?

It’s the worst part of the exterior of the car. Must paint IMO. Paint it black and save $4k compared to an exhaust.

My guess is that the lack of paint from the factory is based upon cost considerations - even though it couldn’t be much to put a flat black on the muffler before the car is assembled.

The hilarious part is that BMW knows it looks stupid - when you look at the M2 on the online configuration, the ass udder has been shaded out. Shady marketing if you ask me.

The design for the muffler was clearly a cost cutting measure, there's a big empty space above the muffler

If you're keeping everything stock because it's a lease, I'd honestly not worry about it. If anything, you're making the car an easier sell for any future buyer

I figured if I am going to remove it to paint, I will just put a different one on.
