so be happy with your 4 cylinder lawn mower sound crap then lol. imo theres no comparison between these cars, M2 is in a different legue, alone by the looks. Focus looks like a joke comapred to the M2. i mean come on.

Not just stiff but according to other reviews, skittish and unsettled as well. I can deal with the first trait (in fact I welcome it), not so much the latter two.

Not a good way to gain credibility as you begin your review....

"The RS has just the right amount of power". Perhaps it would a decade ago. Tests show its about as fast as an STI....2005 or 2015, we all know that car hasn't gotten faster over the years.

Is it me or are in the backward camera points in the video the sounds switched? The Focus sounds more throaty M2- like and the M2 less M2....

I think the guy had already bought a Focus and needed to justify it. Don't get me wrong, I like the Focus, but it's just nowhere close to the M2 as a driving experience. From the seating position, to how you address the wheel, shifter position etc. These are much more compromised in the Focus, which is still undoubtedly a lot of car for the money.

The reviewer seriously says the M2 is soft and flabby compared to the RS? :O
As an owner (soon to be ex) of an RS and having test driven the M2, which I should take delivery of in a couple of weeks, this would be how I would describe it: The RS has an oversrprung and bouncy chassis setup as the M2 has a much more compliant and controlled set up. I think that the above is, IMO, much more accurate. Also, the RS does not feel 350hp fast. And it isn´t faster than a Golf R in a straight line, so it is kind of underwhelming acceleration wise. However the car is fantasticly fun to throw around tight corners and oversteers happily whenever you ask it too. I prefer (obviously) the M2 but as an AWD hot hatch the RS is a great car. BR |

EGG-FREAKING-ZACKLY! I saw that Focus Crap at the Woodward Cruise in Detroit last August. 5 Door - hatch - gaudy spoiler. It looks like it should be parked in a high school parking lot in LA. The car is gross looking. Ford really needs to put that package into a sedan to see if they can sell it that way. Only then, would I be interested.

The M2 is pretty firm. I would say "compliant" or "well damped" would be a better way to put it. Only a pillock would say the M2 is soft and flabby.
And you know, the focus has Sport Cup 2's and AWD and similar power and weight, yet it's still slower than the M2 in pretty much every metric. How would a car with those advantages lose to another car that's "soft and flabby"? Oh, and when did the M2 gain an extra turbo and 10 hp? These guys should definitely not quit their day job. |

Got a chance to drive a 16 Focus RS on track today and I was blown away. The car is fantastic and honestly a lot more fun than my 17 M2. I was underwhelmed when I test drove the RS on the street but on the track it was incredible, I could not stop laughing at how entertaining it was. It takes a lot of steering input but it will slide and then claw for grip to rocket out of the corner. It's a car you can drive with the throttle as much as the steering wheel.
I owned a R35 GT-R and 2016 STI never honestly felt the AWD working but in the Focus you could feel the power being shifted around from wheel to wheel to help the car rotate and shove it out of the corner. The rear drive unit setup AWD is pretty cool. The acceleration felt pretty similar to the M2 but it had a lot more corner exit grip especially on tight corners. The Focus also felt stiffer to me in track mode, you can see how much my helmet go pro mount is bouncing. If my M2 was my primary track car I'd be looking to sell it tomorrow and replace it with a Focus RS, it was THAT fun to drive no joke. But as a street car/daily driver I think the M2 is still more refined and superior overall. Here's some footage from the M2. The M2 felt more clinical, less drama but less fun. If you have good car control and like a loose car that can move around under you and still go fast you won't find a more fun car than the RS for less than 100K. Sorry. Can't overlook the awful Boy Racer vibe of the Focus RS. Not that I could buy one here in America anyway...

They're available here in the states. Many Ford dealerships are pulling the dealer
adjusted markup bullshit though.

I don't think it looks bad, and I buy cars to drive them not to look at them. You can easily buy one in the US at MSRP if you look around. It's harder to get a M2 at MSRP.
