I just got bumped from 38 to 37. Everytime I contact Genius, they tell me that my vehicle is slated to BEGIN production on Week 37, but the ordering guide on this forum, and posts that I've seen, say that this is the week the vehicle is scheduled to FINISH production, and that production actually begins 1-2 weeks before this week. Which one is correct?

The latter. Genius is wrong. They told me that too, but my week 33 car FINISHED in week 33. Production week is the week of completion.

If you are truly week 37, then you should start production (status 150) any day now (we're near the end of week 34 right now).

Ok makes sense, so if production normally starts 2 weeks prior to the build week, then my car is likely to enter production this coming Monday, right?

Once you have a production number, the build week is tied to that number. If you have an order in with a dealer, they should be able to give you both the prod# and build week. If they can't give you a prod#, you are in the "order bank" which effectively means fuck-all; you're waiting until the dealership gets an allocation slot, which is a quarterly process AFAIK.

I have prod #, I called the i-800 number today and they said Sept 5 for completion, I guess that's week 36?

It might. Assuming you are week 37 (which runs from Sep 10 thru Sep 16), my experience predicts you will start production somewhere in week 35. So maybe as early as Aug 27, probably no later than Sep 2.

I was week 33 - started production on Aug 4 (Friday of week 31), ended production on Aug 18 (Friday of week 33).

Welp, I'm status 112 as of Saturday when I stopped at my dealership, but automated-genius still says "no confirmed production date yet." Wondering how far behind that system lags, because I thought 112 meant it was actually scheduled / has a date?

Got to test drive a new (LCI) 6MT M4 they had on the lot... man that is a lot of car. Thing feels gigantic. HUD was really nice. In that car, I put everything into "Sport Plus" and it actually turned off the rev-matching; is that normal for a M3/M4? [edit: yes, on the M3/M4, putting the throttle/engine setting into Sport+ disables rev-match]

I called BMW Genius this morning and got the answer I've been getting for a few weeks now that it's scheduled for production with no date; MyBMW Tracker says the same.

With seeing the posts above, I emailed my CA and he told me that it will start production September 11th! I have a feeling that he's just giving me the first date of W37 rather than a specific date from the system.

Now I'm concerned, but I've seen a screen that my CA emailed me a couple of weeks back that lists:

Req. Prod: 2017/09/37
Sub. Req. Prod.: 2017/09/37
Conf. Prod.: 2017/09/37

Est. Prod. Date: and Act. Prod. Date: at that time were both blank.

It's really confusing that all Bimmerpost threads suggest that the Production week is the week that the vehicle ends production, and my CA and BMW Genius both seem to believe it is the week that the vehicle starts production!

Yeah, everyone at BMW and dealerships is misinformed on all of this. I don't know why, but they are. "Production Date" should really be called "Production COMPLETION Date" or something.

That said, mine still hasn't gone 150 yet at least not according to the website or the automated number. (I don't want to bother actual people with looking it up for me, especially when the live Genius people seem to think you are stupid for asking about status two weeks ahead, since they all think "Production Date" is when it starts being built...)

I expect you and I will just get started a little later in the week. My dealership is tiny and low volume compared to the other two in the area, so I'm not surprised at the lack of preferential treatment. (My order went in within a few days of 2018s being open for ordering, so I don't think that has any bearing on what week you get.) OTOH, if I had stuck with the higher volume dealership that I wanted to use, I probably still wouldn't have an allocation yet, since I was 5th or 6th in line over there.

The BMW Geniuses have the most up to date info, the website or automated systems are always behind. Week 37 just means that will be the week production ends. Any day from the 10th through the 16th. It takes roughly two weeks to complete, so if yours hasn't entered production yet, it will sometime in the coming days.

ZPrime is correct. Just like him, I had been calling toll free number every 12 hours for the past couple of days. Good news is toll free number updates the status very fast now, as soon as the next day. I called last night it was still status 112, "Your vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmation date yet." Today my CA told me mine went into production yesterday so I called toll free number again and it's updated already. Be patient and you have to trust the way Germans do the production, WK37 starts precisely any day this week and will be completed the week 9/11-9/15.

Forgot to mention, if you've entered status 150 your VIN is now available. Call and ask a Genius for it. You can then use the VIN Decoder to view your build.

Anybody want a 6MT TT RS as a weekend car? 2012, Sepang Blue, ~38k miles, CPO through Jan 2018. Dealer gave me what I consider a mildly insulting offer for trade in... I still have a month to try to sell this privately I guess. :/

The last one with your miles did $31,000 at auction. That was 4 months ago. No more have rolled through Manheim since then.

So if your offer is anywhere around there you should take it...CarMax uses auction numbers in their evaluations so worth bringing it by there too if the dealer won't offer you in the $31k range....if you're not happy with that ballpark then private is your best option.

Wow. Dealer offered me $32k as a preliminary offer, so maybe I should just take it if that's above auction pricing. I'm not upside-down on it, but I still owe about 22k so the better the price, the lower I can make my payments on the M2.

Checking around Autotrader and looking at what they are listed for (both dealer and private sales), pricing is kind of all over the place. A bunch of them are in the lower 40s, some with more mileage than me and some with less, and pricing seems to be as low as 39k and as high as 49k... there's one guy dragging the market down with a ~8000 mile car only asking $39k too.

If I put mine up it looks like I will be the only Sepang car on sale though, which I have to imagine helps my cause... If I can get 35k privately I've (barely) beaten the dealership offer (even with the trade-in tax advantage).
