Pricing will catch up with supply. it is not a limited run like the 1M. The only way I got my 2015 M3 in 2014 was my CA pulled strings and re-allocated a BMW Demo car close to my build and transferred it my name. Instead of waiting for 3-4 months for a build, I got it in 2 weeks. There have been no M3's in stock for most of last year in southern CA. M2's are probably being built in one factory in Germany and it is going to take months to build enough for the entire world. They're going to make as many as they can.

M2 is not a limited run as many others have said. I would wait for a 17 with these rates if you want to lease. Wont 17 bring LCI and touch nav to the 2 or am I off? And FWIW all the M3/M4 demo cars sold at launch too so that not special. My dealer still has a waiting list 3 months long for an M3 allocation. |

Guys its the initial lease rate, you mark my words as time goes on the lease rate will get better, probably near what the M3/4 will be as far as residual.

I knew this would be the case. If you are buying it's a great deal, but to lease it's brutal, and very difficult to justify over an f80.

There are still some around - I bought one a few weeks ago at my local dealer, BMW Santa Barbara. At the time there were also 2 available at Steve Thomas, and several at Beverly Hills BMW. However, BMW had horrible lease MF (.0017), and Santa Barbara offered .0010, so I went with them.

Like someone mentioned this residual will get better but it won't go higher than 56-58%. Plus since this is not limited production, you'll be able to get a nice discount from a CA that you've formed a small/large relationship with. The super lucky will get 9-11% off MSRP, then it will average out at about 7% off for smart people.
Let's say with options the MSRP is 59k, you lock in the deal at 54k. With MSDs you can get the lease payments down to $625-$675 a month. I'm pretty sure. I'm waiting for the M2 CSL Or Comp Pack anyway. That will easily be a $1000 a month. Time will tell... |

Bad comparison z4's are being given away. Great time to get art in a form of a car! I had z4 35is for $500 a month all in payment. Amazing car

To be honest, I'm thinking about buying it outright next year. It was more of a general question as I haven't really followed the financial aspects of BMW releases until the M2 came up.

I'm shocked that some of you wanted to rent the car for 2 years and wanted a super awesome deal? Or worse, expected a great deal on a rental?

Even if you lease, 10k miles a year, you can still buy the car for 52% of the Initial value. So if it's worth 60% after 3 years, but it from BMW and sell it. The only downside to leasing is the slightly higher APR. People don't seem to get that : Either way an M2 is literally a waste of money. You will lose money. This isn't a 1M. Either you finance it and assume all risk or lease it and mitigate your risk. I look at the slight higher interest charge as a nice insurance.
