Comments at pretty harsh. I actually dig the steering wheel. Finally something new, GXX wheels are pretty mediocre. Also those displays are just dusty testing hardware. I bet final design will be clean and modern. So far not bad.

I agree.
How people can still judge an interior even in prototype stage when clearly everything on view is at this stage handbuilt prototypes where it isn't shown that the dash frame, console and door cappings are molded in low quality rapid-injected plastic.

In its final form it is around 85% of the concept, again elements have to be reconfigured to accommodate crash testing and production.
Detailing remains but brought up to scratch for production.
It's a modern vehicle and the next evolution of the BMWi design language. Some may say it's like a larger i3 but when you see it in its final guise it's more SUV-Crossover than the prototype suggests.

Sometimes people judge the car before even seeing it a very common phenomena on this forums

But do you have any more info regarding the I4 scott? The i3s is a great little machine but the urge for a more normal sedan car with proper performance and range, is something we are all waiting for something to beat the Model 3 with

In the sideview the front seems to be much shorter in comparison to the X5 or am I wrong?

iNext to have glass control tech

Intelligent Glass news original source: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=901686

https://www.techgenyz.com/2020/02/01...-control-tech/

BMW's iNEXT will reportedly bring out the 'mobility of the future' with their autonomous driving technology. This series-production model is all set to become BMW's new technology flagship with its innovative 'My Favorite Space' concept. The flagship will go into production in 2021 and it seems like the iNEXT could feature Intelligent Glass Control in its design.

BMW iNEXT certainly has the size and proportions of a modern BMW SAV. However, it is somewhat different in terms of its dynamic appearance and brilliant technologies. Apart from the steering wheel and displays in the driver's area, there will be no other controls in the vehicle.

In addition to that, iNEXT will get Intelligent Glass Control but with a twist. This technology is present in other vehicles since 2017 but is mainly used to turn the windows opaque. On the contrary, iNEXT will use intelligent technology to control the temperature inside the vehicle besides making the windows less see-through.

Additionally, the Vision iNEXT could include sensors on board to detect the position of the sun and set controls accordingly. A video reportedly shows what BMW aims to do with its new Intelligent Glass Control for iNEXT.

The Intelligent Glass Control technology will activate automatically to keep the light and heat away while sensing the sunlight. We can also activate the reflective glass manually if we don't want to choose the automatic option. Moreover, the sensors will automatically deactivate the vehicle's tinted windows if we enter a tunnel.

BMW's Vision iNEXT is fully electric, fully connected and offers highly autonomous driving. This series model will be built at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing from 2021. The Vision iNEXT does have the Intelligent Glass Control technology within it. But, whether it will deliver the mentioned features or not, it depends on the future announcements. Until then, we have to wait patiently until its revelation next year.

Since the last update, we've learned the following regarding the iNEXT (from our future models info thread):

The likely market model name for iNext is simply "iX". The battery sizes are no longer used for model designation, instead we'll have "xDrive40", "xDrive50" and "M50 xDrive".

Interesting new feature, first likely to appear on iNext: dynamic window and/or sunroof tint. This technology is courtesy of Continental, which calls it Intelligent Glass Control.

BMW iNEXT Spied Again

I actually see a lot of our old E84 X1, a car I actually miss (at least in 35i guise.)

Audi badly wants to get us out of our Q5 and into an eTron, but we'd like something smaller than either. This could potentially fit the bill.

Is this really smaller than an E-Tron? Looks pretty big, I thought people said this would be closer to X5 than X3 in size?

Yeah, looking closer, it does seem larger than I initially thought. I was hoping for more of the I Pace size, but less Jaguary.

Profile reminds me of a Toyota Venza from 10 years ago. Not quite an SUV. More of a raised station wagon / crossover look.

I loved my i3 and I know this won't disappoint. Holding tight for final release.

Also saw the SuperBowlcAudi etron Sportback ad and that look very good as well.

The rear Glasshouse is disguised to look like an X5. Personally I think its better looking than an e-Tron.(except the Sportback)

end of sedans?

Hate to see sedans being so de-emphasized. Hopefully the Euro roots will keep this segment alive as it is dying with the US manufacturers.

Tesla has proven Sedans are still a extremely popular choice if done correctly.

Until the Model Y comes out and takes over.

Well than simply wait for the upcoming Q4 eTron which will fulfill your wish (sized between Q3 and Q5).

The iNext targets the X5, the iX3 is same as the X3 and for sure there will be sooner or later an X1/X2 sized electric BMW.
