M2CS Racing Protective Grill Inserts?
Has anyone installed the BMW M2 CS Racing protective grills on their M2C?
I'm thinking of adding them and wanted to confirm what's needed to attache them. I see the lower one uses screws and maybe zip ties but how do kidney grills and left and right grills attach? Zip ties only? 2 x 51118323994 Protecting grille 1 x 51118328293 Protective grille for radiator 1 x 51118323981 Protective grille for radiator left 1 x 51118323982 Protective grille for radiator right The first item attaches to the kidney grills but it looks as if others replace the stock grills and that the left and right require the attachment frame. Is that correct? If so, I may just add some mesh behind. 1 x 51118323983 Attachment frame 1 x 51118323984 Attachment frame Last edited by omasou; 07-30-2021 at 12:09 PM.. |

I'm also interested in this. Though I'm not sure it would help too much with smaller rocks that could simply fly right on through.
Other threads recommend the zunsport: https://www.zunsport.com/us/bmw-us/b...ront-grill-set, but it attaches externally and really changes the look. I'm curious if the nomex honycomb mesh stuff you can find at race shops would work just as well. I've got 2K miles and already have some substantial dings and dents on my radiators. The stock hex mesh holes are a bit big. |

I have <10K and thought my radiators were fine but looking closely there is a ton of little dings. |

It's easy to pop the kidney grills and attach some type of mesh material in front of the radiator. I used a black plastic mesh from a farm supply store. Or you could get fancy and use a stainless mesh. Zip ties can be used to secure the bottom as you can attach them low enough to not be seen once the kidneys are installed. There are also two M6, I believe, bolts that protrude down into that space at the top corners that work nice to secure the top edge. Two nylock nuts and fender washers work well. The use the Zunsport piece for the bottom grill openning.
