Did anyone in the US "order" a 2021 M2C model yet?
Hi guys and gals, I'm a new member here, and looking forward to learning as much as possible about the M2C! Last week, I ordered a 2021 HS with the DCT, blue stitching, black wheels, and executive package. (no sunroof). I'm pretty excited about getting the car, but the wait is torturous! LOL
Did anyone on this forum from the US order a 2021 yet? I know that some 2020 orders from earlier in the year, were delivered as 2021's due to production issues. However, the reason I ask is that my salesman said that he can't even place the order for any 2021 models with BMW yet. He told me that he had to wait for BMW to start accepting 2021 orders (He's guessing that they will accept orders by the end of July). Once they are able to accept orders for 2021's, he said that he can place the order and get an allocation for me, and delivery will be 6 to 8 weeks after that. Is this what others have been experiencing when trying to order 2021 models, or am I missing or misunderstanding something? |

Hmm weird. When I placed my order I was only allowed to option a 2021. They could not submit for 2020 anymore. I ordered a 2021 through Military and Diplomatic sales on May 3rd. Production week is July 17th 2020. The 2021 Option list also became available the first week of May I believe.

I noticed that you are not from the USA. Maybe that has something to do with the year differences? I definitely have heard other people outside of the US ordering 2021s, but I haven’t seen any confirmed orders in the US yet.
Hopefully somebody on the forum can chime in to clarify what my dealer has told me. |

I just placed an order for a 2021. My customer associate has 6 orders in, I believe. She told me that I should expect delivery in August.

Thanks! Do you know for sure that the order was placed with BMW, or did you just place the order with the dealer? I also left a deposit and placed an order, but it wasn’t put in the system yet. He estimated around September delivery.

I placed an order with my dealer back in mid-May. During that time, my dealer said they were waiting for MY21 to come available and an allocation. Even back in May, the dealer was not able to order MY20 as it was listed "out of production". In early to mid June, my order was accepted by BMW as a MY21.
My production is scheduled to be completed on 7/9 and delivery to happen around early to mid September.

Something seems off with my deal then. I'm wondering why they can't order yet? Maybe each dealers system gets updated at a different time? I may just call BMW North America to see if there is some kind of schedule. I just don't want to waste my time waiting for a car that I may never see. |

This happens quite frequently, where a dealer accepts your deposit and "order". However, they can't secure it in the BMW ordering system because they (dealer) have not been allocated XX cars for the month yet. Allocations depend on dealer size, region, M dealer, etc. Option 1 - you can wait until a dealer receives an allocation or ask when they anticipate to receive one Option 2 - look for a new dealer that already has an allocation, but no customer assigned to it EDIT: just reread your post, seems like you understand the allocation process. My apologies. But MY21 order has been out for everyone

Thanks! This is what I’m thinking. You are in NYC, so I’m thinking that your dealer probably has higher volume, hence the ability to order the 2021’s a little sooner. My dealer is predicting that they can place the order with BMW by the end of the month. I don’t mind waiting, as long as this is the normal process, etc. I’ve never placed an order so early for the next model year.

I offer they're two completely different vehicles. The M3/4 has become more of a GT car in some regards. Also, for those looking for the "analog" experience, the F87 M2C is one of the last.
Don't get me wrong, I still would love to experience the new M3/4. But it does not fall into the same vain as the previous E46, E36 and E30s of the past. And lastly, the G series M will not be available until early 2021 and the competition after that. My perspective, but happy to hear everyone else's thoughts.

My perspective . . .
I think the S58 is going to be fantastic, but more interested in it under the M2C hood than the M3/4 . . . the M2C is already too big and the M3/4 are just boats at this point with front grilles and other design features that just do not appeal to me. ///AVM |

Nope. If I’m being honest, the M2c is the only car in the entire lineup that really does it for me. Don’t get me wrong, at the right price, I’d own a used f80 or honestly any number of 2,3,4 or 5 series cars. They’re good. But not “I’d drop new car money on that” good in my personal opinion.
As AVM says, they’re all just too big for me. The M2c is already “slightly porky, but acceptable.” |

M3/M4 are great cars. However, after driving the M2,3 &4 on a racetrack (Monticello NY...Great track!) I had way more fun tossing around the M2. It's a very FUN car. If that's what your after, it's perfect. If you are after a little more room and comfort, and want the convenience of 4 doors, then the M3 is a no brainer. I always thought I would buy the M3, but then realized that I'm alone 90+% of the time. I also don't commute to work. So it was a no brainer for me to go for the "fun" car at this time.

The BMW tracker says that the unit is “scheduled for production.” So I trust that it’s with BMW.

I had a '19 m2c but had to make some changes when my son was born. I thought the 135i could somewhat fill the hole that was left by the m2c but the f87 is just in a whole different stratosphere. Idk how much heavier the base m3 would be over the m2c or size comparison. I just know the s58 is a hell of an engine. More paint and interior choices is just another plus. I am definitely impatiently waiting for the reveal like a lot of folks here but there is still a chance i decide to come back to the m2c. Either way itll be my last rwd 6 spd. |

Good news. My salesman just e-mailed me the purchase order, and he said that it was put in the auto bank. It is expected that I have a mid September production date.
How long is it usually from production, to delivery? |

I ordered my 21 two weeks ago. Production completed this week and now awaiting carrier transport. I'm guessing I'll be at the port on Monday or Tuesday. Then, the real wait begins.
