Dan, great description of the Tesla being a big boat that goes fast in a straight line. I had the same thought when I test drove one a few years ago. Go with the M2C, man. You will not regret it! It’s so nimble, tight, and fun. A true driver’s car and the back seats are actually serviceable for short distances.

I don't have a family so passengers are rare but I've had friends in the back for short trips with no complaints (half hour or less). I did give my great nephew and 2 other teens a short ride while at the beach. They loved the car even though it was hard to show off in 25 mph zones. I later found the one good turn in the county and took it at speed for my great nephew.

You will regret the M340i because you'll always wonder about the M2, and they are very different cars. I recently drove an F90 M5 and its a really fast barge (ok, not quite), and its just not the same car when it comes to the sensory and emotional experience as the M2. Point being that once you get too big or get out of the M car, its going to be a different experience. The M3 you probably will not go wrong with, but I haven't driven one yet, nor are the reviews out. I think the M2 reviews are enough to go buy one without even driving the car ever (like many of us here)

I've had my kids in the back and their friends (teens), and no one has complained about space. All of them however, tell me how amazing the car is. Its usually windows down and music off in the M2, so they get the whole experience too.

Agree, 63 going on 64 just ordered the competition to replace the OG.
After nearly 4 years no one has ever been in the back seat...😂
My wife has a Mini Cooper S (JC Works) in stick shift she is 3 years older.
She knows how to drive it.....👌

first thing is I'm 47 years young I have a family and a fully modified m2 competition. Clearly you are not a car guy if you bought a lap top on wheels so it's probably better you stick to your Tesla. You wouldn't know about a real car anyway .

Don't worry too much about the "car guy" point of view. I think the m2 is great for any age if you're concerned about appearance. If you're talking about being old as in you got the "wanting to drive a small tossable angry car" out of your system then I could understand you wanting a tourer like an m4.

I love that there are so many of us 40+ (should say +++) who are having the time of our lives in an M2! One is never too old for anything, its just the circumstance...

50 is not old.
I thought you were gonna say that you are 70+ years.

Even then, get an M2C.

I think I posted that there are always threads on other enthusiast forums about how old the driver of Car A or Car B should be.
Here is a prime example. Literally, 80+ year olds drive VW GTIs and have the same ridiculous arguments over age and car.

Let's just settle this preposterous conversation once and for all, you're never too old to be driving an enthusiast car.

I just turned 50 3 weeks ago, and picked up my M2 CS earlier this week. I'm also 6'8", around 275lbs and as I've gotten older and fatter...it's become increasingly difficult to get into and out of cars. The M2 is absolutely one of the easiest for me to get into and out of...it's perfect. And I have plenty of room on top of that. So don't worry about your age...buy the car you want and enjoy it.

I’ll be 50 in March. Took delivery of an M2 CS about 3 weeks ago. I’ve always driven cars that I might be considered too old to drive....modded and loud WRX then a modded and loud STi. I remember pulling into my office after picking up the STi and one of my staff saying that wasn’t a doc or dad’s car.... I think I said something to the effect of ...what, I’m supposed to drive a minivan or some grownup’s sedan? Frankly I could care less what anyone thinks. I drive what I want and enjoy. Buy and drive what you want.

Doc, How do you like the M2CS so far? What are your impressions after 3 weeks?

Unfortunately it’s winter here in the Niagara Region of Ontario Canada. I had already decided it wasn’t going to be winter driven, so sadly the extent of my driving has been backing it into the garage after the dealership delivered it by flatbed to my house.

What I can say is pictures and videos don’t do it justice. IMHO It’s amazing in person. I think black on black looks awesome... really shows the lines of the car and you still get a nice contrast with the carbon parts. As many have noted/complained....yes it’s 2 series interior but the upgrades are nice. It doesn’t bother me. Seats feel awesome.

Sounds better than I thought it would, but I still might get an exhaust. See how it is once I get it on the road.

Anyway, I look forward to April when it should be warm enough to start driving it. For now I look at it longingly in the garage

I just joined. And I’ve been reading this thread. Five weeks ago I ordered an HS 6M M2c. I wish I knew when I get it no feedback yet from the dealer. I raced SCCA for more than 20 years with some degree of success. I’ll be 70 this year I can’t believe it but it’s true and I cannot wait for the car to come in. I had an E36,2 E46’s and the first E90 in town but that was my last M3 and my last BMW. I just sold a 951 Ls1 that I converted because I am getting old enough I didn’t like working on it as much. I think age is very subjective. I may tire of waiting and just go somewhere and get one- they seem available, just not locally.
