Greetings,

New member here, although not new to BMW’s or the scene for that matter. Anyway, going to be ordering an M2C next month, and had a (probably stupid) question...

This will be my first time ordering a new car to desired spec. When “building” one on BMW website, it doesn’t allow me to select MPerfomance options, i.e. CF spoiler, pedals, etc. Are these components ordered via the dealer at time of placing the order, or how do I go about getting these components added to build? Ideally I’d like to try and get it added to msrp, and work my discount down from there.

Also, torn between HS and SOM.....curiously, what are your thoughts on this?

Yep the dealer can put them in the order, give you a complete MSRP, which you can negotiate off of. Good luck! Beautiful cars btw!

I'm biased toward HS. But I also had the same silver on my e46 like yours.

I too am biased toward HS...however, i was in the SOM pictures thread and made me second guess myself. Also seems like SOM isn’t a common color too, which makes it a bit unique i guess.

I think all colors on the M2 are awesome, but you need to see them in person. I like the chameleon like personality of the HS myself. I love when it turns chalk grey in the dark, and in the winter months. But I'm biased.

That’s precisely it with HS, the chameleon-like aspect of changing colors based on light / angle. I need to see an SOM in person. Haven’t seen one in a long time honestly. Since SOM is less ordered color (i guess), very seldom do i see one.

The SOM looks very nice in sunlight, but turns too brownish if the sun isn't shining.
You have to see in person to know if you would like it. I didn't like it nearly as much as HS.

I like SOM but then I realized it’s not unique to M2C. I think it’s available to X2 and 3 series. Ruined it for me. Went with HS.

I'm in an SOM M2C, so I'm biased. I've been happier with it than I thought I would. I was always a little underwhelmed by HS. HSM on the M2cs looks fantastic. HSM M2CS FTW!!! Otherwise, you will likely be happy with either one on the M2C, cause it's such a blast to drive!

Color is a personal choice. I would try to see all of the colors (you don't have to see many cars there's like 5 colors total) to get a good idea of what color you want to go with. To be honest, I've NEVER been a fan of silver cars because to me, silver is boring. Then again, every car I've purchased has always been black, so what do I know?
However, after seeing HS in real life, it was game over. It literally looks like a different color depending on the time of day. I've had people ask me if I sold my car and got a new one simply because the color changes so much.

I love your 964. any pics of the interior you're willing to share?

get SOM. don't file in M parts with MSRP....will cost you eat more with interest on top. you can them afterwards much cheaper.

Thanks for the recommendation. I thought about waiting for afterwards as well. However i would undoubtedly immediately want to add the CF spoiler and M Perf. Pedals....should’ve came with them factory IMHO

Good luck! I prefer going under the radar, hence the HS, but SOM and black both look fantastic on this car. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on my paint, but every now and then I do think it’s a little too boring. Just depends on my mood I guess (and how clean my car is)

I guess one can NEVER go wrong with HS. I originally wanted an HS. I merely stumbled into the SOM sticky thread above and saw a few pics that left me scratching my head. SOM is a beaut when the sun hits it. However, HS has so many variations to it (depending on angle and light), which i enjoy.

I really need to see an SOM in person. Or if possible all the colors as mentioned above.

Thank you!! I believe EOP is 06.2021. My expectation is to place an order in January. Realistically don’t see the order not being completed, although i do understand and realize time is running out and cutting it close for sure.

Love your HS, btw. What suspension are you on? I ordered KW HAS kit. Yea, i ordered it before even ordering the M2. Took advantage of IND’s Black Friday sale lol. Out for delivery today as we speak.

THIS!!! Exactly what i was thinking. I think I’ll opt to stay with original choice of HS. Truth is, like you just said, don’t want to get tired of silver. Although as agreed by majority - its chameleon-like color will likely keep us loving it.

Just really need to see an SOM. Anyone know of any around the CNJ area?

IMHO, having owned a Titanium Silver e46 like you, HS is not that type of silver under any circumstances. It goes from white, to pearl white, to chalk grey. Not the titanium silver or any variation of that.
