M3/M4 F8x Brakes fit M2?

Hey guys,

One of my favorite mods on my last fun car was rebuilding Cayenne Brakes (18z) and throwing them on my VW Golf R.

Although the standard blue is kinda cool on the M2, I think an orange or gold BMW M brake would look great on my Mineral Gray M2.

Are there any differences between the F8x M2/M3/M4 brakes from a "fit" standpoint?

They will fit no problem as long as you have the proper 19" wheels.

Racing brake makes a bracket kit that will simplify your retrofit.

Nope, all M2/3/4 blue brakes fit all three chassis's, plug and play.

So, I could order any F8x M series colored calipers and it would be plug and play?

BMW M2/3/4 brakes only come in blue mate. Unless you order the Gold 6/4pot carbon Ceramic kit calipers or the BMW M2Comp grey 6/4pot calipers. If you order the later (gold or grey calipers) you need to order the larger steel brake discs and pads that come with the M2C big grey brakes.

All still plug and play. I did just that,

Fitted the gold calipers with the grey kit steel brake discs.

thanks for the help, i'll start diving into all the geometries and such ..

.. this is easier than my cayenne 18z mod. That was a headache with brake booster, correct bracket Mercedes g class rotors, etc.

No need to do that mate, they are a direct bolt on mate the hubs are identical etc

When you buy the grey or gold 6/4pots they come with the mounting bracket fitted.

I personally would save the money and buy better aftermarket brakes if you are seeking performance.

But if you are looking for aesthetics then yeah go for it - realoem will help you get the correct p/n's.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing. Still very much in investigative mode. Until I track the car and feel real fade, I'll probably roll with the standards.

Just need to set up a budget so I can save effectively, it's how I work

Doesn't the M2 already come with 380/370 mm Brembos front and rear in blue? This is what is standard on M3/4 as well. The Gold and Grey Brembos bump you up to 400/?? Front and rear.

The Standard 4-pot calipers only come in Blue on all M2/3/4, M235i, 335i, etc.

The 6-pot calipers come in Gold(Carbon Ceramic Packages - M2CS, M3, M4, etc.), Grey (M2C), Blue (M5, M6 - as far as I know these are all the same calipers), and Red (M Performance "upgrade")

I'm actually on the hunt for M5/6 calipers, considering the 6pot upgrade.

If it's for looks - I'd just consider having someone like IND repaint your calipers to the color you like. The 2NH brakes (6pots) looks like they'll cause more clearance issues.

Thanks for repeating what I said. :

M5/6 calipers are not the same, they take the same size pads as the gold and grey calipers but they are a different size by 5mm and do not come with oem brackets to mount on M2/3/4 hubs. Image shows the difference below .

So they are still essentially the same. A 5mm difference in the radial mounting surface isn't a massive difference. The appropriate radial mount and rotor solves the problem. Pads fit, mounts the same, etc.

Nice
F2x and F3x MPBBK front & rear calipers come in 3 colours - Red/Orange/Yellow - and, colour aside, are exactly the same as F8x std fit blue calipers F&R, so 100% cross compatible with 380/370mm stock F8x rotors. Caliper part nos for all are in Realoem links

Rear
