M performance steering wheel
I am thinking of getting the M Performance steering wheel V2.
https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...bC1sNi1nYXM%3D I would love to hear what people who have this wheel think about it. I know that I would be losing the heat function from the stock wheel. |

I had one before I got the electronic. I liked that there was Alcantara and Leather. It's not round at the top where the colored stripe is. No complaints overall. I don't need the heat so made no difference to me. Now that I have the electronic wheel, I prefer the full Alcantara. It's not a daily driver, or I'd probably prefer the V2 because with dirty or oily hands you don't want to be touching the Alcantara.
They come up for sale on the classifieds, you should be able to get a like new one for $5-600. |

I know several forum members have this steering wheel. Let us hear your thoughts on the wheel.

Not much feedback. I am afraid that the alcantara is too hard to maintain and will wear out quickly.
Any comments?

Nothing lasts forever. Maybe buy a used one in great shape and replace it in a couple years if it wears out. In the mean time you'll really enjoy it. Consider, your hands and feet are what connects you to the car. My line of thinking is the extra few bucks isn't where to make the compromise. I bought a cotton cover for my wheel so when my hands are dirty I'm not mucking it up. A pair of gloves would do the same.

I just bought this thing. Looking forward to install. I'll make sure my hands aren't greasy or dirty but otherwise, just enjoy. Life's short.

Hi Dan, I don't have this wheel but my experience is with alcantara in general. I have it on my racing simulator wheel and as much as I like the feel it's too much maintenance for me. I wash my hands often but still after just few months the wheel looks like crap.
If it was my weekend car I would consider it but since it's daily I would probably have to wear gloves and I don't want to do that. |

Thanks for the updates all. I have decided that though it looks great it probably is a little too unpractical for my daily driver.
