Upcoming Track Events
I thought there'd be a sticky for what events people are about to go to. Guess not.
Anyways i've just registered for the Auto Club Speedway event on October 3, anyone else going? |

Going back to Autoclub Speedway on November 7. Apparently they're thinking of closing this track for non-professional racing. Going again just in case it's the last time. Some nice "covid" changes are no driver meetings and less people racing.

Looks like it's going to rain on Saturday. And if it does i'll not be going as this is a high speed track (uses part of the nascar oval) and i'm not looking to risk my car.

Understandable. Some of my best track days have been in the rain. Usually there are fewer cars on the track because of the risk. I always bring a set of Rain Tires on my Track Trailer.

I have done a track day in the rain, pretty bad rain, and it's hairy. I don't have rain tires so not gonna risk it. If it's not raining in the morning i'll give it a go until it comes down, but if it's already raining i'm gonna just wait until the next event.

I did my second wet track day this year at Nurburgring (first one was At Mid Ohio). It was scary AF. But there was a hidden benefit. It dried up in the afternoon, and I posted my PB that same day. I think the extra smoothness from driving with medium speed in the wet helped me once it was dry and speeds went up.
I also found out Cup2s are edgy in the wet. Last edited by 5.M0NSTER; 11-06-2020 at 09:23 AM.. |

MPSS is what i have on the car and i've tracked with them. Not a bad tire, but i bought Cup 2's which i'm going to put on shortly. If it's not raining in the morning i'll see you there and give it a whirl.

Wet track days though can be excellent teaching tools like you also said. Find it helps reinforce smoothness with me. My last track day it was wet & cool and I was on hard compound slicks. Aside from a couple of code browns I feel like overall it was a positive

If it rains, I'll leave traction control on the oval and then turn it off it in the infield. Should be a nice car control skills day. Gonna practice drifting lol.
Either way wasn't going to push it hard. Im too much of a pansy, I never liked ACS because of those walls. |
