M2 M Performance Suspension and Vorshlag Camber plates - which one?

https://vorshlag-store.com/collectio...32106773610558

Honestly, I am a little confused - I know it is a 5-bolt but what strut type is it?

I just checked the top nut and its not 19 or 22 - an 18mm multi-point socket felt like it fit the best.

Anybody have these cambers and can provide a suggestion on the specific strut type to select?

Thanks

I just went and measured the strut shaft and the top nut is also a 10mm (not 12 or 14mm) so now I'm really confused...would Vorshlag potentially be able to answer this question?

Why are there two nuts on the shock shaft? The lower one looks BMW, the upper one?

18 outside 10 inside looks the same as stock OEM nut.
Can't you just pick Other and specify MPS?

Weird, this was port installed - I wonder if the port didn't use the correct hardware

Never had a problem with them though

The shop who is doing the install asked as they are going to acquire the camber plates

You could probably look in the MPS installation guide to see if the OEM nut gets reused.

Edit: hm, not easily found

hah, well I did find it and I believe there was an "optional" hardware kit for it? I honestly don't know...I have a M2 Performance Edition and the suspension was all port-installed

I recently just installed M perf suspension on my M2.
Stock suspension has 18mm 12 point like what you have in the picture, then the M perf suspension kit comes with 22mm 6 point nut replacement.

Correct - m14 collar nut is in the optional add-on install hardware kit in the PDF in the link below:-

https://rparts-sites.s3.amazonaws.co...ll%20instr.pdf

Page 4 shows parts list - items K thru Q are the extras required for install
.
K Nut M10-10-ZNS3 (2 x) (not included in the parts kit)
L Hexagon screw M10x10 80-U1-10.9 (2 x) (not included in the parts kit)
M Gasket (2 x) (not included in the parts kit)
N Combination hexagon screw M8 x 33 10.9 ZNS3 (10 x) (not included in the parts kit)
O Collar nut M14 x 1.5-05 ZNS3 (2 x) (not included in the parts kit)
P Combination screw M12 x 125 -10-ZNS3 (2 x) (not included in the parts kit)
Q Bihex nut M14 x 1.5 ZNNIVSI (2 x) (not included in the parts kit)

OEM part no. for item O above - front strut top nut - is 34339806226

So, the port didn't install with the optional hardware kit? Whats the impact? Whats the purpose of the optional hardware kit?

Also, not really helping me with my real question in this thread hah - what is the strut type for Vorshlag camber plates?

If you google the part number that bee pee wrote, it will show the nut that looks excatly the same as yours. So they may have used the correct hardware.

For me though, i just used the hardware that came with the kit, which was 22mm.

As far as your original question, it's probably best if you just email them directly.

hah - yeah, gonna call over there - I also realized I was looking at the wrong camber plates: https://vorshlag-store.com/collectio...13539286941758 (is the correct one - for anyone in the future)

But it doesn't help clear up the question:

I'm not sure where Vorshlag got the 19 and 22 top nut numbers...I've seen nothing in research to indicate that the top nut is either size

Just to clarify, was this the optional kit? What was the size of the bolt on the stock suspension? 18mm?

No, the 22mm nut came with the kit. If you google the pictures of the coilover, you'll see that they are pictured on there too, screwed in on the strut.
the stock suspension has 18mm that looks just like yours.

So weird, I mean, I absolutely have the M Performance Suspension - I wonder why the port didn't install with the correct nut - I can only imagine that they have revised the kit since I got my car in 2017? Did you recently get your suspension?

Do we know if the M Perf. Suspension came with a 19mm nut too? Haha

I take it back - having gone and looked at mine again.

The black 'nut' is the hex on the top of the shaft, with the BMW locknut on the threaded section below.

The F22 - i think - uses the smaller diameter damper rod with an M12 nut, while the M2 uses M14. I'm fairly sure I saw a picture where someone was trying to fit incompatible parts and used a couple of washers to make it work.

I got mine in 2017. It came with Nyloc nuts for the strut. I used the BMW items instead.

And just to clarify some of the confusion - what do you have exactly? Which suspension and top mount?

OEM - the MPS is meant to be installed with the OEM strut. I ordered Ground Control - OEM strut type for my MPS.

As this is a thread about MPS, I'd just like to say I stuck with BMW top mounts (and nuts), although I also retrofitted the front braces used on the M2C.

If I notice uneven wear on the front without tracking problems I would probably follow Bee Pee and fit the .5 degree hubs.

Sorry, not sure what you mean by OEM Strut - perhaps we aren't talking about the same thing - the strut is definitely KW-based for the M Performance Suspension: https://www.bimmerworld.com/Suspensi...nsion-Kit.html

yeah, I want more camber than that haha and I don't want to spend $1-1,5k or whatever the math worked out to be

That's the one. Although - alignment aside - I have the tools to do it myself.
