Which Volks?
I’m planning to upgrade my wheels and I’m interested in some forum input. I want to be able to run 255F/275R (maybe 255/285) without spacers, rubbing, or excessive bulge, stretch, or poke. I’d like to stick with 19”, but 18 is OK if size is right and it clears my stock brake calipers. Of course I want quality wheels that look good too and are lighter than stock. I’m on MP coils and my M2 is BSM.
I’ve narrowed my search to three candidates. Images are for visual reference (not sizing) and are not in preference order. TE37 Ultra (style is ancient classic and a bit “JDM” but I like, also comes in matte blue and diamond dark gunmetal): Pic from Rays’ site F 19x9 ET23 or 19x9.5 ET23 R 19x10 ET 34 or 19x10.5 ET30 G25 (another oldie but goodie, also comes in silver): F 19x9.5 ET22 R 19x10.5 ET35 Pic from Rays’s site ZE40 (a bit newer style, at least for Rays/Volk, also comes in matte blue and diamond dark gunmetal): Found pic googling, owned by EAS F 19x9 ET23 or 19x9.5 ET22 R 19x10 ET34 Thoughts? |

FI-R are the only BBS I like that have the right offsets, and they cost more than I’m willing to spend. Pretty much the same for HRE - I would love to have a set, but only the custom forged ones, which are going to be out of my price range. Plus, with custom wheels, you have to order/wait for a new custom wheel if you bend one or wait for repair/refinish if you curb one. On my last car, I had (not HRE) custom forged wheels and spent more time waiting to get them (or get them back) than I did driving around on them. |

I had the TE37 on my S2000 and loved it. But I like the G25 even more, esp in its prism color, for its light weigh look. I previously tried to get a set for my C7 but unfortunately it’s not available in correct sizes.

Te37 definitely too jdm. Feels like a Nissan wheel.
I know you didn’t ask but why not a set of forgestars super concave. And if price is not an issue maybe some 2 piece or 3 piece with a lip like the bbs like the one on IND’s white m2. Ssr sells some reasonable 2/3 pieces. Or some hre’s |

Of the three choice you have presented, TE37's all the way. Maybe in a Hyper Blue or some other colour other that black of course...nice to get a contrast. I think I've seen a guy on here with BSM and blue TE37's...looked good IMHO.

Wow you know you’re old when TE37’s are called ancient se still get my vote though. I like the fat spokes look on big wheels.

~Robban, CI-R’s are nice but not lighter than stock. I’m starting to think HRE FF04 - they have the offsets I like, are *just* lighter than stock, and are not crazy expensive. |

I’ve got a set of BC Forged wheels on my M2 and they are great. Less than 1k$ each, lighter than stock and ET custom. There are similar designs to ZE 40

Has anyone got a pic of the M2 with the bronze TE37 Ultra from the side? I have always been a fan of those wheels on a M car. There is a E92 M3 with those wheels around here and it looks super hot.

I'm running the Ultra Track Edition II
19x9 ET23 19x10 ET 36 Stock Michelin tires. I'm pretty sure you can go 225F/275R without much bulging. |

At the start I was not a fan of a JDM wheel on the M2 but after seeing several members rocking the TE37's I'm a convert.
And they will be so much easier to clean than OEM and most other options. I've run Volk LE37k's and GTU's on prior cars. Last edited by redgs4; 11-30-2020 at 11:58 PM.. |
