Ordered placed on Nov 20th. Completed production on Dec 3rd. Arrived at Port Dec 8th. Left Bremerhaven on the Faust. I tracked it using FleetMon (free trial membership) as it sailed to Belgium, through the English Channel stopping in Southampton, UK and then across the Atlantic to Halifax, Canada. Finally docking in Newark, NJ on January 2nd. The car left VPC on January 7th. I picked it up at the dealer on eastern Long Island, NY on January 9th.

Per the guide, don't use the site. Call BMW Genius.

Genius is better - more detailed info. But on the left side of the mybmw site, look for add/remove vehicle. Then it'll show up under Track My BMW.

Others have mentioned that some of the options may not be correct on the site. Mine was slightly off and then it updated to the correct packages a few days later.

I was just told by BMW Genius that they now longer will be giving out status codes. The Genius mentioned that this was a fairly recent policy that was implemented.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I have not heard that anywhere else yet. If more people can verify I'll update the tracking guide. That would be very unfortunate.

I was surprised too. Hopefully, the person(genius) I was talking to made a mistake.

Can anyone else confirm?

Don't confuse status with status codes.

I noticed that the Genius hotline has always been reluctant to give out codes like 151 Paint shop. They will confirm paint shop but won't mention 151 unless you specifically ask.

I just inquired about my status yesterday, but I named the status and the Genius rep confirmed it.

So does having a production number mean you have been given an allocation?

Vehicle Timeline
We are currently processing your order and will inform you once your BMW enters production.????

From the tracking guide on the first page: "and ask for your production order number. (if your dealership had an allocation) This is a 7 digit number that ties you to the allocation. You should receive this production number within a few hours or within the next day at the latest."

Car completed production 1/27 but has been at the port awaiting a vessel since 1/29. Is this typical?

At least yours is completed, I'm waiting for mine to start production! Reading everyone's experience on here about the waiting game isn't real until your doing the waiting yourself. Good luck dude!

Is this typical?

I placed my initial deposit of $1000 in November. My dealer told me that I would get the "first or second", depending if the owner of the dealership kept the first. So basically I'm #1 on the list. They called me on Jan 20 and said that we could now place the order in the BMW system. I did, and they charged me an extra $2000. Today, after wondering why my status has been "order documented" (still to this day) I called BMW and they confirmed that my car isn't even scheduled until 3/9 to start production.

Am I missing something? Based on the OP's timeline I wont see this car until second week of May or so (I'm on the East Coast). And this is supposed to be their first car. I'm glad I don't have to wait as long as some of the people here are, but I would have thought that I'd be driving it before then. Were all the first allocation cars supposed to hit about the same time, or does the location/size of the dealer make a difference?

Your order only went into the order bank. Allocations had not been released in January. They are just starting to trickle out now. The cars that have been production the last few weeks are dealer demo cars being sold to customers.

Cool. I guess I was just a bit optimistic about having it in April.
