M2C MPE removal query

Hi

I am going to remove my MPE exhaust off my M2C as I have a buyer for it.

Can I remove it and place OEM one back on at my / any specialist exhaust shop or does it have to be done at BMW for motorplan/ warranty reasons?

Anyone know if its okay or does BMW themselves have to do it ?

Thanks

BMW will probably charge you a pretty penny for it

I'd just take it to a specialized shop (and by specialized I mean a shop with proper experience with BMW exhausts)

Shoudn't be any warranty issues if the job is done right.

Not sure if the M2 comp one is the same as the OG M2 one, but for the OG M2 you have to cut the stock exhaust to install the MPE. So you'd need to weld the old exhaust back on unless you have a full uncut new one.

Yes, a specialist exhaust shop, I'll take it to them as it needs to be cut and old one welded back on, just don't want issues with bmw when I take in for service etc

Any BMW techies know if its okay to do it at my own exhaust shop

No need to weld if you don’t want. You could always use exhaust clamps. I mean, that’s what your MPE is held on by.

If you go with the welding option you’ll need to drop the exhaust from the downpipe back to weld the top of the pipe.

Great, so it's then just undoing the clamps and removal and putting on old oem back and clamping on, as easy as that?

No connecting to bmw software or anything like that needed

Thanks

BMW won't care if you do it. I installed my own MPE. The only part of your warranty that might be voided would be if the exhaust has a defect in the future but even then I don't think they'd make a fuss unless they wanted to be dicks

Yep, exactly that easy! You could re-use the MPE clamps or just buy new ones. The only electronic connectors will be for the exhaust valve. Just unclip the connectors, pop off the actuators, transfer to new exhaust and you're done.
