Just took a Press Vehicle M2 on trade!

This is NOT a for sale post...

I work at a Jaguar Land Rover dealership in sales and just took this 2016 M2 in on trade. Owner told the sales person it was a special edition press track car blah blah blah... I wasn't here to talk to him.

Decoded the VIN and turns out it has option code 902 for Special Vehicle Check Press. Build date of Nov 14 2015. Can anyone tell me anything else that's cool about it? I'm curious as to what the back story is... Carfax doesn't tell me much. Has the MPE with the remote fob which is nice but otherwise seems like a pretty basic build.

VIN: WBS1H9C53GV351841

I have a 2011 M3 that's code s902. Car fax says registered Woodcliff NJ, titled or registered as corporate fleet vehicle. Yours says tilted or registered as personal lease vehicle.

The story I got from previous owner to me said the previous owner to him said it was an "executive demo" car. BMW had it for 7k miles and then sold to a forum member in California, then later to another forum member in Florida, then at 75k miles to me.

I've never been sure if mine was a press vehicle or what, but I did find a picture of a car on the track that had the same rare combination of exterior/interior in a Motortrend article, but BMW may have made several to show off or maybe executive demo cars are ordered by the dealer/BMW NA offices. I wish I could find out. Could maybe have even been a performance center car for all I know. Maybe someday someone at BMW can tell me.

I couldn't personally imagine ever purchasing a car used as a press car or part of a dealer rental fleet. You know those are cars that have been thoroughly abused, often during the break-in period. Especially for a performance car like an M2, I would need such a significant price reduction that no dealer would consider selling it.

I've also heard that the option code has been used to expedite a build as well 🤷🏾*♂️

True. I'd personally avoid any car with this option code unless I had proof. I've seen online that some cars are ordered with this code to get cars early (expedited) or it could've been a static display for pics... Just not a good situation

I don't think they actually rent them out, but yeah I wouldn't buy one from a dealer either.

I wasn't specifically referring to the M2 as a rental, although any dealership that did would quickly become my favorite haha.

But when I had a CLA45 that the dealership crashed and totaled (it's a good story) they gave me brand new E300's for about a year that I would swap out every few thousand miles. I would never buy one of those cars from a dealership, you just don't know how they were treated, how often they were driven hard while cold, etc.

I'm sure you got a good deal but I'd guess it spent most of it's early life in the redline to people that were paid to test the limits every time they got in it.

A quick look at the service history will help, as well as the color of the brakes (if they are turning green instead of blue, they have been used very hard).

Not sure about the code though, it's a standard car so no need for a rush or specific build sheet (unless it's actually different from other M2's and you're just not noticing it).

Looking at the bigger picture...

How much more unreliable could it be than any other BMW?

Retired call girls usually have/know plenty of stories.

But the question is: do you, as her new partner, want to know them (all) ?

I work for a dealership, I just took it on trade in, it'll be off to a new home soon enough

Yeah, I'd rather not know any.

That was a fake Aston Martin ad (see here).

I recall the controversial original one many moons ago (and always doubted whether it was legit). Impossible nowadays:
