M2CS vs 718 GT4

Now that we have details of the 718 GT4:

Which one would you pick? I am thinking the M2CS just because I need 4 seats to carry my son.

GT4 is pretty disappointing. Not the detuned 4L GT3 motor like we thought, only 415 hp, 300 tq and only 8000 rpm redline, 3300 lbs pretty heavy for a 2 seater. For 100K I just don't see it making sense.

I feel the same. I am sure it will be a great car, but not the one most of us expected or wished...

Agree, and same long gearing (one of my big peeves with my 981). The spyder has more wow factor.

Come on now, it's awesome except for the price tag. The M2 CS will not hold a candle. The CS models are barely warmed over.

I'm not happy that the GT4 does not have a PDK. Plus no GT3 engine that we have been reading about for over a year. The 0-60 of 4.2 seconds is on par with a original M2 with DCT. It seems like a glorified 718 GTS.

The price of $100k plus options in the $10k range plus tax gets you close to new 911carrera S range. I think I would get a M2 CS or even stretch for next GT3 since I need an automatic.

The M2CS needs to do a better job of the interior to differentiate from the Comp. the latest spy shots didn't show the wow factor. Really hoping it's $75K - 80K to be a better value prop. Although I prefer to have a greater price gap to the base 718 GT4

And that's assuming you can actually get it for 100k....I'm curious to see how much markup there is here in the Bay.

GT4, in a heartbeat for me. The CS sort of seems like the M2C but with the carbon fiber bits and a tune. The GT4 would be more special for me.

Also wouldn’t worry about the 0-60 times. Porsche has severely underrated their performance. Car and driver got 3.6 for the Cayman S (PDK). Suspect the GT4 will be the same, if not better.

Ehh... while you are 100% right that Porsche underrates 0-60, the 718S is a turbo and PDK, this is a NA with low down low torque and manual only. I think it will probably be faster than 4.2, but I don't think it will pass 3.7.

More power but same peak torque from a bigger 4L engine...

They neutered the GT4 again

one thing we know for sure... the GT4 is going to hold its value helluva lot better than the M2C.

Doubt it, the PDK contributes a TON to the 0-60 time both on the launch and the 1-2 shift. Also the Cayman S has a lot more torque.

As a % of the vehicle probably, from a dollar amount perspective. Maybe, maybe not. M2C is 30k less to start.

I didn't realize the car was going to offered ONLY has a 6MT. I had assumed that the 6MT was just an option! Good on Porsche.

I like the Porsche. But there's a $40,000 difference between the two.

I am guessing there will be an RS version with the (by then) detuned GT3 engine and PDK only.

Just a guess....

Wasn't the 981 roughly 3100lbs? I still want a gt4 but at 100k START and 200lbs heavier, a used 981 gt4 seems like the way to go. Guess we'll see when track times start coming out.

I love the M2 but I'd pick the Porsche in a heartbeat as long as money was no object....but the price difference will be truly massive.

It is not M2CS vs a 718 GT3 to me.

To different animals to be honest;

2 vs 4 seater
NA vs double turbo
1420 kg vs 1600kg
major price difference

The 718 GT will come with PDK summer 2020, so even quicker.

Don`t forget, the 718 GT4 is 10 sec faster on the NS compared to the 981 GT4, that is really a step up in performance.

I want them both
