2020 ///M2 Competition Allocation / Question(s)
Hello all,
This is my first post, a little background on me if you care...otherwise the few questions are at the bottom if you would be so kind to answer if you can! ///////// I've been lurking on this forum for a long time and finally joined the forums back in August of 2018, when I placed a deposit to get on the waiting list for an allocation at my local dealer. At that time, I was second in line with no timeframe on when they would get an allocation for the guy in front of me, let alone when I'd get mine. I was fine with the wait. A few days ago, I got the call from my sales associate that they'd received an allocation and it was mine! The allocation is for a 2020 MY Competition. I'm beyond excited as the E46 M3 was my dream car back in high school. I'm not completely new to BMW as I did have an E46 330Ci that I absolutely loved for a long time. I was big into the E46 community and learned way too much about that generation of cars. Now, I cannot wait to get back into the brand. The reason I chose the M2, as I'm sure many of you have, is because I feel it's the true successor to the E46 M3 and with the cars getting larger with every iteration, I feel this is the one "true" M carrying on the spirit of the original E30 M3. I did test drive a 2019 Comp in Southern California late last year just around the block (the salesman was apprehensive but I managed to convince him). It was a LBB, which I'm not really the biggest fan of, and of course it was DCT. //////// QUESTIONS Might be too little too late, but I've agreed to pay MSRP for the car. This was a great deal at the time that I made it, because dealerships across the west coast were still marking them up as much as $10,000! Is this still a good deal? Or has the hype died down? I've optioned a Hockenheim silver like 99.999999% of everyone else, but I've never seen it in person. I've learned through reading your posts that it's a very dynamic color and ever-changing due to lighting conditions, however I'd like to confirm the color is very similar to Porsche's "Chalk" color, is this right? Is it actually worth it or is it just like every other silver out there under MOST conditions? I saw a post on Instagram that described this as being the most accurate representation of HS in a picture, is this true? I wanted to confirm the steering wheel with the shift indicators can only be fitted if the car is spec'd with a DCT, correct? I'm going to go for the MT and EXEC package for sure... still on the fence about the sunroof and HS, might go Alpine White... Thanks guys, can't wait to be part of the BMW family again! |

No, Hockenheim silver is quite different from Porsche chalk grey, it's more brilliant and it has has many nuances, it's more similar to Audi Suzuka grey.
Check here, but the best option is to see it in person https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1584232 |

That’s what HS looks like when it’s overcast. It can look closer to white if it’s bright but indirectly lit. If direct, you get more of the metallic. It’s not really like every other silver. It’s somewhere between Mineral White and Glacier Silver maybe, but it’s hard to pin down.

FWIW I find people in cloudy wintery climates love their sunroof and people in sunny climates question why bmw even offers it.
Fact is, if you have the money and you are not going to track it, (for headroom/helmet purposes) then go for it.

HS can be seen at McKenna BMW, Encinitas BMW, and BMW of San Diego as found on cars.com. I suggest calling them to confirm then take a road trip to see HS for yourself. It's a more dynamic color than Porsche Chalk I think, but often looks brighter than the photo you posted, but it depends. It certainly doesn't look like "just any other silver" but that doesn't mean you will like it.
I feel this is pretty accurate. |

I know HS is over represented online, but I'll have one of only three in my entire city so it's going to be as unique as the car itself here. |

Henderson (Las Vegas)BMW has an HS DCT M2C. I’m sort of surprised it’s still there.
