OG pre LCI gauge retrofit double check question
Am looking seriously now at an OG M2 with the pre-lci gauge clusters.
I wanted to double check out I can definitely get the LCI stand alone cluster (RHD & MPH) and it will be a drop in replacement? I know it needs coding. I really prefer the LCI dials for a more modern look and ease of visibility. Cheers |

What I am concerned with would an independent have the coding or does only BMW have the coding required for retrofit?
Does anyone see BMW being willing to fit and code it for me? Last thing I want is to get the car and be stuck with the pre-lci gauges I just don't like them. EDIT: A local BMW garage have said as far as they can see it wouldn't work. That the car would search for its existing dials and not integrate with the new ones. So how are the likes of IND and that other firm FE performance is it?-doing it Last edited by 3t3p; 02-18-2019 at 09:10 AM.. |

Thanks all and Andy I came across your thread of course when I was scouring the net about this topic
Is there anything particular you are aware of re: the coding that I can pass onto prospective garages? Like key pieces of information? I don't know anything beyond 'coding' . It's reassuring to see real people doing it with success, I am pressing the buy button on the M2 now! |

Unfortunately I don't know the actual coding details themselves, had I known them I would have shared them in my DIY guide. Regardless, you don't have to be physically present at a shop to have your coding done, it can be done remotely from anywhere in the world. I personally used 'bimmer america LLC', just google them and shoot them an email and tell them you'd like coding for an M2 LCI instrument cluster retrofit and they'll know what to do. You can easily install the gauges yourself and then have the coder I just recommended (or anyone else you find) do the coding for you while the cars in your garage/driveway. There's really no need to physically bring the car anywhere for this type of project, you just need one torx wrench, a laptop and an Enet cable and you're good to go.

You could do that, you just wouldn't have a properly functioning cluster on the way over so you might have to guess your speed and rpm's and things of that nature.

Hi guys please help.
I rang an official BMW UK parts provider and they were helpful and were willing to order parts in for me from Germany. SO I initially gave them this part code: 62108090142 This was a good code he said, it would even let him order it on the system and was £980 thereabouts but he couldn't say what the part was on his screen as it did not tell him. I then asked to search for M2 LCI guage clusters and he came up with TWO part numbers. One was 'until July 2018' the second was 'after July 2018'. So, the 'up to July 2018' part code is: 62108097792 AND the 'after July 2018' part code is: 62108098269 Both were about £1100 I didn't want to take any more of his time as he was already being very helpful and obviously couldn't advise me which to order. Clearly they must be MPH units and if you search the part numbers come across sites like this one but requires Czech to English translation via google. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/cs/showp...diagId=62_0637 The stock gauges are not cutting it for me and are a downer, they are not easy to read at all in the day time. I would get the IND kit but shipping is crazy for some reason >$300, hopefully Ryan will get back to me on this. Can I go wrong ordering either part, as long as it's MPH and LCI right it can be coded in presumably? Is 'After July 2018' the M2C guage maybe?! (and would that even matter) |
