I might be wrong, but I really don’t think so. I had the cars back to back. The 235i wheel feels thicker but the material also feels squishier. Like it’s just more foam padding under the leather. Could be all in my head though. Would be nice if we had actual proof though.

Any luck? We're counting on you bud! Maybe use a tape measure as a guide, and pics to validate. Lol

Yes for sure....
I have 2 BMWs and one is more thicker than the other.

I like both though, actually sometimes prefer thicker one.

Long story short, I was wrong. According to my measurement M2C wheel is 1/16" thinner.

I actually left the dealership thinking they were the same thickness, on the drive home I looked at the pics and realized I didn't look closely enough and read it wrong, then I started questioning my measurement because I didn't want to be wrong, then accepted that I was wrong, then I bought mac and cheese to comfort me.

I also noticed M2C's carpet seems to be of a finer weave and possibly a 1/32 shade lighter on the Pantone scale.. (lol, just kidding)

Thanks for clarifying. I believe they did this to alter the steering feel a bit. You do feel a slight difference depending girth of a particular steering wheel.

My concern now is how the part numbers are still the same. Will be a hassle to buy a new wheel with the diameter you prefer. I like my wheel and when the leather wears out I'd like to replace it with the same one.

Don't replace it then, just have the wheel re-wrapped.

I feel you on that but as far as I see, your only recourse is to buy one used now and save it for that day you're ready to refresh it...

This can very frustrating if you're unaware of any internal design changes within a particular part. I mentioned before the knee pad; BMW took off the polar blue stitching and kept the same exact part number, so I ordered it from three different sources and undeservedly scolded all three of them thinking they screwed up by ordering the wrong part. I eventually came to realized, thanks to the folks here; it was BMW's error.. Opps..

So it's just one of those things but it's great we have sources like this forum to go through the nuances with a fine-tooth comb.

Nice work! Curious to see so much dust inside the M2C, figured it'd be cleaner..

Some of the big white dots you see and the white streaks are hail. The car door was open, letting it all in. I actually drove through a blizzard to get that pic haha.

That's really too bad as I personally like the feel of a thicker wheel... any ideas how the m performance with electronic display compares? If it's thicker then I will definitely upgrade mine on the M2C

Another 2018 heated wheel datapoint for fun. I apologize for not having a fabric tape graduated to 1/64"s

You can always add this steering cover if you feel you need more girth:

Thanks for doing that, manufacturers will update parts without updating part numbers quite often over the life cycle of a car, hopefully for the better.

Thanks. As I said in my video. I also thought it is now just right. Funny, I bet if I measure the wheel in my sport package 2016 X3, I bet it's fatter! Just silly fat.

1/16" circumference? Jeez that is an imperceptible change in diameter, which is what you would "feel".

1/16" circumference = 1/50" diameter or 0.5mm!!

Lol 😆

I'm not sure your info is correct.Last year when a bunch of people were trying to get the MY16 and MY17 polar blue knee pad,i decided to get another one for my 2016 M2.I ordered the knee pad at my BMW dealer with my VIN and it came from Germany with the original polar blue stitching. To get the polar blue knee pad you probably needed to place your order with an actual MY16 or MY17 M2 VIN.

I'm 100% sure about this. I'm the reason IND started making the knee pad with the blue stitching, after I made them aware of this change.

The US part number, which is the same as Europe, no longer comes with the blue contrast stitching.

Yes, like I told you, I ordered it from my dealer using a VIN number of an M2 they had sitting 5 feet away from me. Another from an eBay OEM dealer, and then finally from BMW GetParts. All came plain black leather, confirming that it no longer comes with the stitching.

BMW changed the design and kept the same exact part number. If I was unsure, I wouldn't of stated this as fact.

Feel free to prove me wrong..
