What it shows is that there are only TWO wheel variants fitted across all those cars for the entire world.

Type 06 (heated) and type 07 (unheated) since 2015. Thats it. No others have been used or optioned.

Thus there is nothing new for the M2 or M2C. I've driven heated m2c and sat in unheated M2C and F80 M3 / M4 and as far as i could feel there was no difference at all.

The first thing i thought when i got into my M2C and grabbed the wheel was "this feels thinner than the M-sport steering wheel in my 235."

Negative on the heated steering wheel being thinner.
I had the OG and I have the COMP now, both with heated steering wheels and the comp is just plain old simply thinner. My boy still has the OG 17 (with heated steering wheel) and thats thicker.

They changed it (USA), because to me, it was too thick.

Maybe they did change the thickness but didn't find the need to not supersede the part number..

Not to long ago when I was looking for this knee pad with the polar blue stitching, BMW had kept the same part number but stop adding the distinctive threading; it was just plain black leather? like the standard 235i.

Based on my experience, I'm willing to believe they very well might of been a slight redesign with the steering wheel but it didn't warrant a new model number :

Give me the old wheel

I absolutely hate that the M2C has a thinner steering wheel. It's the one thing I wish I could lift from my 135i. I wouldn't say that I have large hands (9 3/4") but the thicker wheel always felt better in the hands. Wouldn't mind seeing a flat-bottom either.

This adds more credibility to the M2C dampers undergoing a minor revision with no change to part numbers. Just to open another can of worms.

235i etc is a different wheel, may well be thicker than the m2/m3/m4 wheel's.

I would always think a heated wheel would be thicker due to extra heater element layers etc.

No different part number's for USA, so even if they did thin the wheel but keep the part number we would all get the same.

The mystery continues...

I think the only ones debating it are the people with OG M2's, likely haven't even driven the M2C let alone have both sitting next to each other.

The M2C is as thick of a steering wheel as I could handle.

Three days ago I had a M2C rented for a week, so your thinking isn't correct.

There is a dealership 14 miles from me with a M2C w/ heated wheel. I'll go there Monday (if they're open for the holiday) and measure it, then compare it to my 2018 w/ heated wheel and take pictures with the wheel m buttons visible in the pics for proof.

Yes. Both wheels are heated, so stop that discussion. The M2c wheel is thinner than the OG wheel. Take a cloth tape and someone post the measurements. Very simple.

Regardless of who's correct in this dispute, I find a 'thicker' steering wheel more appealing..

More girth equals a better grip and thus "sportier" IMO..

The wheel is definitely smaller than the 235 wheel. Honestly I prefer it. The thickness was starting to get absurd on bmws.

I'm gonna cause more drama saying this, and there isn't a 235/240 near me to check, but I believe they are the same thickness from multiple sources I've read online.

I believe the thickest non-M performance wheel was actually the Z4M wheel. The F82 wheel was definitely skinnier. I didn’t really mind either one.

I wonder if they are downsizing for the perception of improved steering feel. The foam in the thick BMW wheels is a little soft and has a slight amount of give. It could absorb a bit of vibration. I doubt it’s a big difference, but Porsche steering wheels are skinnier and less soft generally.
