I was recently in an M2C and I felt the steering wheel is thinner than the original M2 (and M4). I always felt they were too thick so I thought it was great that M made it thinner for the M2C. Is this my imagination or is this true? Has anybody else noticed this?

Yes indeed, check out my videos! I agree with you, although some prefer the thicker wheel.

Thanks for the reply. This was so obvious to me when I git into then car, I noticed it immediately and I love it (more Porsche like).

I have an M4CS; do you think I can fit this M2C steering wheel to my CS?

I think you could, as the CS wheel would fit on an M2.

How are all you new owners reporting all these changes, when the part numbers are remaining the same?

Is BMW secretly revising the mechanics of all their hardware but keeping the part number the same or is the placebo effect..

Don't know what to tell you man, but they are different. If you have a pre LCI M4/M3 or a normal M2, go to a dealer that has an M2 Comp and see for yourself. Here is a pic that there are two different part numbers for the steering wheel

Yea, that's not right. Why would the M2C steering wheel have a lower part number? Seems to me one is for heated wheel and the other is unheated.

Any pictures I find of 06 seems to have no heating element in them. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/32307847606/

Also both of those part numbers existed before the M2C did

I'm sure about the part numbers... that's what I found... but don't take my word for it.. if you have a regular M2, go to the dealer and check out yourself. The steering wheel is the same in in terms of design, but it is thinner.

The first guy that responded has owned both. Here's his video where he talks (1.24 in the video) about it and you can actually see the steering wheel in the video that looks thinner.

Maybe that's true... but I had never seen it a normal M2. So which part number is the thinner one. I want to order it.

06 is lighter weight, so I would assume that would be the other one. But, like I said, it seems that one is unheated. Every listing I've seen on ebay doesn't list it as heated, but the ones I've seen for 07 say heated.

Edit: Not gonna take the time to screenshot and upload pics, but you can tell the difference between them is the heating element when looking at actually photos on ebay. The bottom right side spoke has the heating connection wires in it.

That might be the case (one heated thicker and one non heated thinner) but my previous M4 had the thicker non heated version which was the same as the non heated M2 version, and it was thicker than then comp M2 I just say (not sure if it was heated or not)

Ok, but the guy that posted the video... his original M2 had a non-heated wheel, and his M2C has a heated wheel. So him saying M2C is thinner is even more out of whack.

Sorry, but what people feel is so wishy washy and flawed it's ridiculous at this point. The wheels are the same.

Could it be production variances or supplier changes? I guess the only way to find out for sure is just order the part from BMW and gauge for ourselves.

I also noticed the recent model year M and M Sport wheels have been a shade thinner. Same look, design, and feel, just a notch thinner.

I dunno, but someone if they cared enough could bust out a measuring tape and just find out if it's smaller or not.

Actually it makes sense... the heated wheel needs to have less padding(thinner) to transmit the heat better to the hands. Maybe?

Ha. I heard the same, but my M2C rim is same as my old M6.

The part number is the same since 2015 for all M2, M3 and M4, LCI and Comp for both heated and unheated variants...

No, that's incorrect. (unless I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to say) That list is showing the cars that had that part number as an option. It doesn't mean it is the ONLY wheel used for those cars. The links I posted about show the same for the 07 part number.
