Weird Dinan coilover response, need help

Hi guys, I just recently installed a set of Dinan adjustable coilover on my M2 and the car feels unplanted and bounces a lot compared to stock. When going over a bump the car feels like like its about to jump and Im getting the opposite of what people is saying about how the dinan coilover makes the car. The stock was more compliant over bumps and actually way comfortable than dinan. Please give me some help!

Was it professionally installed? Alignment after?

It was professionally installed but haven't gotten an alignment cause they told me to let it settle for a week first. But I don't think an alignment can change how the car ride no?

There are at least three threads with discussion about this that I've read before, here are two that I quickly found.

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1560584
https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1546910

Seems like upgraded sway bars would help with the bouncyness, but no one has confirmed it yet.

I'd return them and get Ohlins R&T or M Performance suspension if you can. Dinan isn't what it used to be.

Yea I was considering Ohlins R&T or the m performance one but they were out of my budget at the time and I was happy with how the car handles stock

Seems like you have an installation issue. Go back to the shop and have them test drive it before you throw money at this or get misdirected to try something else. If they are an authorized Dinan installer hopefully they won't give you the run around. If they do, call Dinan directly. They are responsive. I went from stock to Dinan and like you said had the exact opposite experience. This is one of few suspensions that actually improve the ride on the street. You don't need any additional parts to make it compliant because it was designed to be compliant as is. This suspension uses linear (vs progressive) springs I believe, which helps make it compliant.

Thank you man, I did call them today and scheduled another appointment to have them check it out.

Had Dinan coilovers installed on mine… No such issues, it actually absorbs all the road imperfection a lot better than stock

I have the KW height adjustable springs and have 0 complains. Ride is firm and car feels very planted. I'd reccomend them if you end up returning these and want a cheaper alternative to coilovers.

Definitely have the shop take another look. I've had mine for about 1k miles and it's made an improvement in the ride quality over stock. Stock m2c on stock sway bars and stock struts

How low did you set the car to? Could it be hitting bumpstops or too many “packers”? I got this suspension based on the reviews on this forum. And it’s been great; more planted in the corner, yet smoother on the street.

It is on the lowest setting and I'm gonna have the shop check again.

I haven’t heard anyone who actually has the Dinan suspension installed complain about this.

I’ve had it for almost two years and it’s way better than stock. Some of the guys compared it against KW HAS and liked Dinan more.

I’d just make sure the shop didn’t drop the ride height too much.

Dinan "coilovers" are really just height adjustable springs. They reuse the stock shocks.

M Performance suspension uses its own dedicated shocks.
