Xpel PPF installed with one minor issue
Hi everyone,
I got Xpel installed on my M2C's all front - bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, grill. Overall, the installer did an excellent job. There were some minor air bubbles which he popped out. Still have some bubbles which are expected to settle in within a week. I have a follow up next week the installer. Honestly, can't even tell that there's Xpel PPF on the car. I have one minor issue though. I do see a small dust speck in front, right next to the badge. I showed it to the installer and he said to wait a week and see how it looks, then we can decided what to do next. The speck is not that noticeable unless you go looking for it. However if sun shines directly on the panel then it starts to become a little obvious. When you rub your hands over the spec it is raised up slightly. Please see pictures attached. Now am I expecting too much? Do you guys have such imperfections in your Xpel install as well? What did you do? Should I get the Xpel re-installed? It is pretty much re-doing the complete front bumper. Except the speck, everything looks clean and perfect so far.

It's in your head. I can guarantee no one will even notice it, especially since it's on the front of the car (where there will be a lot of bugs spending time year-round anyways). Having them remove and reapply the PPF, which here will be the entire front bumper, may damage the new paint and you may run into the same problem again but even worse. If it were me, I would just try to forget about it. I know how these things can mess with your head all the time lol

Small bubbles initially are normal and usually go away with time but sometimes dust gets trapped under. I have my car completely wrapped with Suntek Ultra and there are a few areas on the car where I can see a dust spec trapped under but you can only really see it in the right lighting so I don't worry about it. I would give it a few weeks in sunlight and if it's still there and bothers you go back to the installer and ask them to re-do it.

I have a few dust specs in mine. As I was told by the installer, they strive for perfection but ultimately it's about protection. Sure, you could have them peel that section and reapply and then you might end up with a dust spec somewhere else. Remember clear bra is there to protect you from stone chips and to look presentable at the same time. You are the only one who sees that dust spec. Also, as soon as a stone nicks that clear bra, it's going to leave a mark anyway. If you drive these cars on the road you are fighting a losing battle. The clearbra just helps you lose slower.

That analogy really doesn't work here. If you spent $2k for film on a Hyundai Sonata or $2k for film on a Ford GT it still boils down to the quality of work you expect in return for the money you spent.

Ya, I think looking at the big picture is the way to go. Like F87 said, it could damage paint if it's not pulled off properly. Then you're looking at a repaint. Minus installing this in a clean room, I'm sure it's nearly impossible not to get some dirt nibs under there.
I'd just leave it alone if that's the only spot you found. I bought mine with ppf and there's a couple places where dirt got trapped. The big picture is, the paint under it is protected.

Thanks everyone, I will leave it then.
I still have to get PPF installed on the rear bulging fenders. I already had a small knick in the paint there and wanted to touch it up before sticking the PPF.

Just curious how many had imperfections or dust specks in their Xpel PPF.
Did you end up getting it fixed?

I have a couple tiny bubbles on my front bumper near the emblem. I didn't think it was noticeable enough to make a big fuss about it. The install was perfect besides that, so I was fine with just living with it.

buckybadger curious where you had it done in SD? If it was Auto Armor or any of the other well known names I'm sure they'll make it right if the dust specks bother you.

Auto Armour was a little pricey comparatively and not convenient for me to drive there. Overall my install looks perfect and staff/installer at 5 point are very friendly and genuine. It's just that one dust spec close to the emblem that pops out in certain lighting conditions.

Everything else looks good. I'm going back for a one week inspection. It looks like it may not be worth replacing the whole bumper's Xpel again to avoid damage to the paint. Also may end up with worst situation. Just to be safe, I might let it go and just live with one spec of dust. Ofcourse if any new issues pop up then I will have them replace everything.

How safe is it to remove Xpel?
My installer is proposing to remove and re-install Xpel on the complete bumper. For me, I don't mind re-install except I'm not sure about the consequences of removing Xpel. Can the removal process damage the paint?

bucky, I had mine completely removed and it was fine. As long as it's done properly it should be okay.
