Battery power for dash cam

Just installed a BlackVue cam with parking mode. Per BlackVue recommendations I got the power magic pro with it. The shop that installed it said it wasn’t necessary. I park in a busy parking garage every day and the camera is recording a good bit of video while parked. Do you think it’s ok to forgo the power magic pro?

Depends on how often and long you drive the car for. With my BV DR900S it will drop the voltage to 12v (cut off) in about 4-5 days if not driven and this is on a new BMW M2C ie: new battery.

If you have it why not use it?.

Well that was my point but my husband took the car in while I was at work and they didn’t install it. They said bring it back and they could put it in but acted like it was so unnecessary and it’s a hassle to get the car back there. I wish they’d just installed it while it was there.

There are times it sits 3-4 days when I’m off but not usually longer than that and I can plan to turn off parking mode when I’m out of town. I hope I don’t forget.

Yes you should have it it installed, there is no reason not to. Its added protection and at some point in your ownership it will bite you in the rear for not having it. Then you can 'set it and forget it'.
