LOL. I had shifted my attention to the G05 forum but... "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in"!

M2 for life yo. What's really going to come out that's going to better considering emissions?

I have the Dinan Intake. The top has to be higher because of the cylindrical shape of the filter. I wasn't a fan of cutting the brace, but it was easy and does't take a lot of material out. I bought an extra brace in case I want to go back to stock or try another CAI, but I'm happy with the Dinan.

I agree it doesn't do much and is just eye candy and sound. The M2's stock airbox has a extra hole in the front side, that is plugged for the installation of the Dinan intake. The is a modification for other series called a m performance mod, I think. I debated leaving the hole, because the Dinan instructions don't specify anything for the M2; other than cutting the brace.

I searched but there is not clear answer how much difference this makes, other than a guy on this forum, who said he left the hole open for more sound. I thought plugging the hole made sense, because it seals the system better.

One thing i did notice is, it seems that my fuel economy improved by a few MPH during long trips.
So, regrettably I ended up selling the Dinan CAI. If it wasn't for cutting that brace it would have been on the car. The buyer is picking it up this evening and installing it on his M235. I didn't recall if the M235 had that hole you were referring to but I noticed in the bag of parts I had a round plug. I can't remember if that hole was on the M235?

To my knowledge the M235i doesn't have the opening. I had an M35i and it didn't have it. You would have seen it when you had to install the Dinan intake, it would be hard to miss.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do in your car search.
