LA is much larger than NYC and much more spread out like one huge suburb with different neighborhoods. I recently moved from NYC. If you live in the city, I would assume it's more dense in the area you live in with people and cars so you may see more than many have seen outside of a dealership. Or the M2/M2Cs are just more popular in the US on the east coast vs west coast. EDIT: When I lived in NYC, I never saw one OG M2 walking or riding my motorcycle in or outside the city. I heard from my BMW rep that their are discontinuing the s55 platform with the release of the new m3 m4s (which everyone already knows), and with that the M2c will end as well. The engines were put into that platform only until they run out then its over. Also I cant imagine based off history BMW they will do a long run of a car that essnetially rivals the flagship M4.

I don't believe that to be fully accurate. F87 M2 Production is to end 6/21, about 8 months after the F83 M4 ends production. Details are available here:
