Going to dealer tomorrow. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is the ISTEP upgrade the same thing as iDrive update? Just making sure before I take the car tomorrow for the update.

Is this the same thing? If so, no dealer needed.

Got my car back today for the update. Two things I did notice: traction control is no longer intrusive, as mentioned, and MPE is quieter now. Burbles/pops are still present, but are a lot less pronounced. I don't mind it being it quieter, as the burbles/pops can get boring, but I am a bit sad it isn't as loud as it was when first got the MPE installed, though I do live in California anyways so car was already too loud to attract cop's attention and now is less obvious to cops.

Open the valve and put the car in MDM/Traction mode

How long does istep update normally take? I have N version and I know Pxxxx version is out. I want the PDC reverse beep issue corrected. Can I wait at dealer for it or does it truely take that long? Mine is and 18 LCI.

It took them most of the day to do mine with a scheduled appointment, so I could get a loaner. I've been screwed too many times wasting time at the dealership when they said something would take an hour or two and it ends up taking 4 or more. I have no idea what the actual work time is, though.

Very odd, that should've already been corrected for you from the get go.

I have version L and it stops beeping immediately when going from reverse into neutral.

They'll come back in a few days. At least mine did. DME just needs to adapt

With so many frequent update version numbers, are we all essentially driving different cars?

So what is the latest strategy to get the dealer to update the software for free? I want the less intrusive MDM but I don't feel like forking out $200.

At the moment I have two complaints that I'm going to mention during my next service: low RPM stumbles when the card is cold, barely noticeable, only last about 20 seconds.
My main complaint is the TCS kicking in at high speeds when I had the car on winter tires (square setup). I was in 6th gear going 110kms, wanted to accelerate but the TCS wouldn't let me.
That one is going to be impossible to prove because the summer wheels are back on.
I hope the dealer will believe me and do the right thing but if I can hit them with a common iDrive issue to give them another reason for reflash it would be nice.
