How do I determine if a 2018 M2 is a LCI?
I’m in the market for a used M2 with a stick and after reading a lot of articles I want a 2018. I assumed all 2018 models were LCI’s but someone was telling me that the early 2018 models were regular M2’s.
Is there a way I can determine if a car that I am searching for, that may be hundreds of miles away is a LCI? Are the serial numbers coded or is there a marking on the car? Also, is there a way I can find how many 2018 Long Beach Blue with a stick and sunroofs were built for the U.S.? Last edited by Wackit; 02-14-2019 at 04:40 PM.. |

All 2018s were LCIs. LCIs have LED headlights and tail lights as well as a new dash layout.

I used Google a lot to answer these type of questions. There are all kinds of side by side pics if you search.
When I bought my LCI not even a month ago, I didn't even know what LCI was! So you're already ahead of where I started!

Here's the best summary with photos I could find:

Ok, thanks people. I was trying through Google to see side by side differences, but what kept coming up was Compitition vs. LCI. I would have thought there were sites that showed M2 next to LCI to show changes but couldn’t see any.
I’ll keep on looking. Thanks. |

It sounds like you're looking for a quick visualization ID when looking at pics\online ads.
The lights are easiest for the exterior. I think the easiest way to tell from the interior is from the CF dash trim. In the preLCI it's only above the glovebox. With the LCI a think piece of the CF continues to above the center of the dash between the vents and the iDrive display. Hope that helps......
