Trial offer Apple car play and office 365

BMW offered a $1 trial for a month of Apple car play and office 365.
What a waste Apple car play is...will not continue after the 1 month trial, already turned it off after 2 days.
Can't understand why most manufacturers offer it as standard and BMW want to rip you off for something that is pretty useless I think over the normal blue tooth music and nav.

I don't think I paid anything and we've had the car for over a month. Are they now charging for Apple CarPlay!

I am in Australia, I think you are in the US...but this from BMW below. At least wont miss it.

"BMW Australia is set to follow its North American cousins by charging an annual subscription fee for Apple CarPlay in new cars.
Available as an option in most new BMWs, the popular system serves as an extension of Apple smartphones allowing users to access contacts, music, mapping and other key services on the road"

BMW customers shopping for a new X3 luxury SUV currently pay either AUD$429 or AUD$623 for a three-year Apple CarPlay subscription, depending on whether their car is subject to luxury car tax.
But the company will soon drop that in favour of an annual charge of about AUD$150.

Unbelievable. Why would they do that. This makes me mad. It's just uncalled for. I personally don't use and don't care for it but my son and daughter use theirs all the time. Is this Apple or BMW doing this?

What don't you like about CarPlay? I use it all the time in my Honda Ridgeline and I was looking forward to using it in my M2C which I picked up on Friday. I like having a consistent interface between my truck and my car. Sending / receiving text messages is also very good. Google Maps and Waze is available now also. Works great for me.

I am pretty sure it is BMW, as even Hyundai and Kia offer it as standard. Just another way to get more money out of us.
Anyway I find using Spotify via Bluetooth and BMW navigation just as good and easier.

My 2016 Oct build didn't come with Apple CarPlay, I don't think I'll use it if it's subscription instead of one-off payment like most other car manufactures offer.

Some say we can just code and enable the CarPlay (still on iDrive 5.0, focus on driving, not really touching anything not handling related...).

They are doing a trial for one month for $1.00 if you are interested then $150 per year.

How about no...

This is BMW's greedy practice. CarPlay is FREE standard on Fords, Kias, etc.

BMW also doesn't support Android Auto. I can get that in a VW GTI.

Agree it is BMW not apple...BMW charge plenty for many of their "BMW Connected" services and in Australia many that were included when I acquired the vehicle will expire in 3 years time and require paying for if I want to extend.

I'm pretty sure they now extended it to 4 years. I believe that's what is on the 2018 M2 and the 2019 X5. I'll double check but I pretty sure I remember them telling me.

I had to pay for 1 year on the 2016 X5 after the 3rd year. We depend on the real time traffic.

Sorry if my question covers something discussed earlier in this thread, but are all the newer M2Cs coming from factory with full screen carplay?

A little off topic..

Is my bluetooth slow because my version isnt updated?

When i connect my phone to bluetooth, changing songs takes at least 3 seconds to happen. Doesnt matter i do it from the phone or the cars touch screen. Its so annoying!!!
