ED Hotel Recommendations?

Just curious if anybody here has a hotel in Munich that they are particularly fond of. I am picking up my car in late January but will definitely want to spend the day before exploring the city and hitting the breweries.

I like the Hilton Munich Park. Nice location next to the English gardens (which are nicer in the warmer months with the open beer gardens). Hotel is pretty nice as well and prices are reasonable and is included in one of the hotels you can get an ED discount for.

I'm staying at the Hampton West Munich. It's a short Uber ride to BMW Welt and fairly inexpensive.

Does anyone have a complete list of hotels that have a discount associated with the ED?

The hotels change up here and there and they send a packet of cards with the hotels after your ED date gets confirmed. Unfortunately, I threw mine away after I got back from my last one.

My packet has four two-sided hotel cards included:

- Bayerischer Hof - Starting at Euro 303 / night
- Platzl Hotel - Starting at Euro 133 per person including breakfast
- Leonardo Royal Hotel Munich - starting at Euro 99 per night including breakfast
- Kings Hotel - starting at Euro 115 3 star property, 140 4 star including breakfast
- Hilton Munich Park - starting at Euro 136, includes breakfast buffet and other amenities
- Munich Marriott - Starting at Euro 99 per person including breakfast
- Hilton Munich Airport - starting at Euro 189 including breakfast

The date on the bottom of all the cards is March 2018. You need your production number to book with the BMW Welt special price and amenities.

Most, if not all of these also include garage parking for the night if my memory serves me right.

That is correct. There are some other perks that I just didn't feel like typing. Like health club access at some, welcome cocktail at others. I might switch to the Full Hilton with the discount, now that I see the advantages...

I stayed at Leonardo Royal Munich last time in 2015 but my date for my ED in a few weeks is not available sadly so I need to find an alternative.

My latest ED packet for 2019 has Hilton Munich Airport (far from Welt), Leonardo Royal Munich (not avail for my date), Hilton Munich Park ($400+ a night), and Bayerischer Hof (300+ a night)

Which is the next closest hotel to the Welt that's not 300+ bucks?

My last ED I stayed at the Holiday Inn Munich City Center (for pretty much same reasons you mention regarding price) at maybe 1/3 of the cost. Still within walking distance to quite a bit and a 15 min cab ride to the Welt. Clean hotel but without the fanciness you'll get with the others.

Thanks there must be some conference on Jan 17 in Munich because all the hotel prices are 2-3X normal price.

Oof, I still haven't booked my hotel yet (although it's only for one night) and I need it for the 21st. Hopefully I don't get bent over a barrel on price.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Munich City West. I think with parking it was 106 Euros a night. We wanted to be close to the Marienplatz. The hotel was super clean and was 100 yards from the train, and four stops from the center of town. Only negative was it was a bit far from Welt.

The super high price seems to only be on the 17th, no other days. I'd go with the Leonardo Royal Munich if it's avail on that date, it was affordable and really nice plus a short walk to BMW welt.

I'm arriving the 17th and leaving the 21st so I'll just miss you.

I could be wrong, but I feel like the hotels will honor the ED price even if there's something going on during those dates?

I stayed at Hotel Bavaria during Oktoberfest. Great location.

Didn't do ED, but coincidentally car was being built that week.

Nah they say on the ED cards the hotels can't offer the rents during festivals, which is fair.

BTW I booked a place at the Royal Leonardo, seemed like a good all around option.

I emailed several hotels in the ED card packet, the contracts for 2019 between BMW ED and the hotels aren't even signed yet so they can only offer rack rate.
