Wheei studs
Anyone using wheel studs for track or DD? Just bought a set and am deciding on using red Loktite or not. Have heard Pros and Cons.

I used Loctite on mine. DD (this will be my first winter with them) and HPDE.

Loctite is definitely required for proper installation. Because the tightening torque of the studs to the hub is relatively low (around 27 ft-lbs), as well as the repeated forces involved in tightening and loosening lug nuts (often with air tools), thread locker is required to keep the studs in place.

The only clarification I'd add is that I used blue Loctite vs Red. Red requires heat to remove.
The load on the studs is tensile and lateral, which isn't likely to rotate them out during driving. After 100+ track days using this approach, I've never had a wheel stud back out |
