NOT $5,500
I can't recall but it was around the $2,100 range. Nowhere near $5,500. That's a hidden premium.

It's Fedex's new business line... overnight air freight for M2's... actually, I might pay $5,500 for that

Cool Story Bro: Years ago, we were looking for a used E39 (best all-around car BMW ever built, IMO) for my wife. We went to a couple of different dealers. One of the questions I asked was "why are some cars Certified Pre-Owned, when similar cars are not?" The salesman at the first dealer said, "Certifying a car costs a fair chunk of change which we have to bake into the price, and some people would rather save the money." A sensible, and probably truthful answer. The sales weasel at the second dealer could have said the same thing, but instead told us, "well, that particular car had its oil changed at a Jiffy Lube, so it's automatically ineligible for the CPO program." Three tiny problems with that: 1 - The car was new enough that it was still under factory warranty and maintenance. IOW, oil changes would be taken care of at the dealer for free, so why on earth would it be at a Jiffy Lube? 2 - Not 5 minutes before, the salesman had told us he knew nothing about the car's history. Now, all of a sudden, he knows where the oil was changed? 3 - According the BMW NA, there were a list of things that'll disqualify a car, but getting the oil changed somewhere other than a BMW dealer wasn't one of them. Guess which dealership I bought my M2 from. |

At the end of the conversation he said "it's really only a small price increase". I followed with "then let's do full MSRP if it's so little, why are we talking about this?!" He had no response lol. Just to finish it off I said I will pay the full premium if he would throw the MPE in go free. Dah!! No answer. Complete was of time! I laugh about it now though. |

That's pretty crazy! I think mine was a little higher than gthal's as my dealership does charge $200 more for PDI on the M's...not sure why but meh, it wasn't enough to make a fuss.
EDIT: after reading Twix post I decided to check on my bill of sale (thanks to the wife) and I paid exactly what he described below. Last edited by gmzanatta; 07-29-2016 at 05:27 PM.. |

$2995, and I thought that was steep for PDI + delivery. There's another $595 for dealer fess which include the etching and police anti-theft stuff.

Speaking of which, funny story: my M2 costs $200 per year less to insure than my 2007 Ford Fusion V6...go figure. |

Mine was cheap too... my insurance has always been pretty low but the M2 was the least expensive car I've insured in recent memory.

I remember when I went from my 2010 Ranger to my 2014 X1, the difference in insurance price was so much that I had to ask her if she made a mistake a few times.
Her explanation was that insurance pricing is based on odds more than it is on actual compiled data or history. In other words, it's much more rare to make a claim on a BMW because there's far fewer BMWs than there is Ford trucks. I still think she needs to come to Calgary, because every 3rd car is a 3 series.

For even 2k you can afford to fly to pick it up and drive it back for much less.
