Can't you just unplug the exhaust flap valve during sport plus? This will leave the valves open all the time. This is what the M4/M3 folks do.

I thought the valves were already open during a cold start and is the reason it's so loud? Or do you mean the trick makes every start as loud as a cold start?

Interesting. Maybe. In that case, reversing may make it quieter for ... those people ... that want that.
Do all the same, but put in efficient mode to close valves before starting? Don't know, would never want that myself.
Edit: zenmaster this is for you.

He'll no! Me neither! I love the cold start in my 1M, it shakes the house and my neighbors tell me they hear me every morning. If the M2 is louder??? May God have mercy on their souls!

I kind of regret not adding the MPE as a port install but I wanted to wait to see what we get aftermarket. Plus, if we can find decently priced tips that fit, we can get the mpe from getbmwparts.com for 2200.00. Not a bad deal. Now find us some tips!!!!!

I just ty-rapped the vacuum valve in my X1 to keep it open. Didn't need to unplug anything or press the gas pedal down to open it first. Should be able to do the same in the M2

I believe this is the case. Even starting in Comfort mode it's loud af for the first 10-15 seconds then you can hear the valves close. You should see the pile of panties in my driveway, it's crazy.

IIRC, the cold start trick you're taking about, jtodd_fl, cannot be done on all M3's. I'd have to search for the thread I've read about it in...

Someone creep under the car and unplug the valves. pls

I posted a video of the cold start from the outside in my Picking up M2 tomorrow thread. Listen to it at 38 seconds you can hear the valves close and it was in Comfort mode...
