That's a low residual...probably because it won't be near as limited a car as we think.

Aren't M cars always lower than their non-M counterparts? 235 is in the high 50s.

Yeeeoch that residual makes me glad I didn't get on the list early. Right now with 1500 build out credit on an M4 if you can get a $500 over invoice before discount deal the monthly on these two cars would be pretty close...

So 52% residual on a 30k/36m contract. That's not anywhere near as good as most BMW leases, but not much different than a lease from Audi.

I think the thing to keep in mind is that this car will probably resell pretty well after the production ends. It could be a car to keep - and the buyout would be actually low enough to make that a decent move.

It is almost always a better deal to buy from the beginning if you plan to keep, but leasing does minimize certain risks that a purchase would compound. If your intent is to keep the car for 36m before the next best thing, then I agree that these residuals suck.

I wonder how bad the 24m lease residuals are and if it would make sense for someone to do a 36m lease and trade in early. I am 100% sure that any dealer would jump on a low mileage two year old M2. And put you into an LCI M2.

If this is true...they are forcing everyone to finance!

Same shit they did for the 1M. It was cheaper to lease an M3 when the 1M was out...

So glad I didn't wait any longer for this car and swallowed the bullet on an M235i - best move ever on my end...

Rough Estimate: This is easily a $800 lease payment with first month down.

With residuals that bad... if there are enough cars out there wouldn't it be wiser to wait (if you could) and buy a used one?

BMW will be attracting a lot of young M buyers with the M2... or 6 series buyers who took a pay cut last year

Definitely not good if you are looking to just lease it for 36 months and hand it back in.

Good if you are a business owner who can deduct at least 70% of the lease and plan to purchase the M2 at the end of the lease.

There are a couple other possible scenarios but to keep it simple, I'll just stick with 2.

This isn't even remotely surprising. Everyone knew the M2 would lease like crap!

WOWOWOW is the aim to attract only serious die hard purists ?! Estimating a rough monthly payment, a lot of other options open up. Especially since it doesn't seem all that exclusive. Very interesting.

WOW, those are really bad numbers for anyone looking to lease. Should we expect the numbers to change for 2017?
