If you live in CA, my advice is to reach out to him and see what he can do for you.

See the "About Me" tab on this guy's page.

The word "negotiate" did not exist when I got my M2C last year. Oh well...

Yeah when i started my search, i was surprised that all dealers basically scoffed at me and almost ignored me as soon as i tried to negotiate the price.

I have to say, all of you over in the mid-west and east coast have it nice. I'd be willing to bet a lot of it is due to the fact that you guys get snow, and this isnt the first car you think of when having to deal with those weather conditions.

Ha! Same here. I saw the launch video and somehow turned into Wayne Campbell in "Oh yes, it will be mine" mode. Turned up at the dealer in May in a trance. All bargaining power gone.

Then I saw the cs and the same thing just happened again.

I'm hopeless. But happy.

I was all smitten for the CS until I saw the specs for the next gen M2..

They had me at S58..

Throw in Adaptive Suspension + Comfort Access, at around 65k MSRP and I'm in love..

do you think the next gen m2 will have the bigger grilles and styling cues like the M3/4... that's my only fear

At this point in time, It's hard to say really..

At first, I thought it would have a similar setup to the M235i Grand Coup but I was immediately corrected, so it's anyone's guess..

https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=25917748

Here's to hoping it's not as flamboyant as the next gen M4/4 Series..

I'll link you any legitimate updates I receive, regarding the subject.

Now if it was me, I would wait a few weeks to see how things are and aim for a slightly greater discount.
Agree 100% with JC!

Negotiate OTD price. In other words, tell the dealership you will show up with a check for 'X' dollars and they will provide you the keys.

If you approach it this way, you will notice on the final sale documents the price you actually pay for the car will be retro-fitted to correspond to your OTD agreement. For example, if you agree to $60K OTD, the actual price for the vehicle will vary (e.g., by state), but land somewhere around $57K. . . by the way, more than just a random example with regard to M2C purchase.

Also, hold a few cards back in the negotiation process. Once you get close to closing the deal, throw those cards on the table. For example, in my recent 718 CGTS purchase, Porsche includes the 1st routine maintenance. During my final offer, I indicated I expected them to cover years two and three routine maintenance costs. The routine maintenance comes at a nominal cost to dealer, with huge labor-related inflation to the buyer - at least with Porsche.

In short, there is no way the dealership is going to walk away from closing a deal over something that will ultimately cost them little compared to what it will ultimately cost you as the buyer. I use routine maintenance as only one example, and numerous others exist. As further example, I had the dealer include three years of Premier Tire and Wheel Insurance.

Just some thoughts and recommendation according to personal purchasing experience.

Why are the deals so good? I'm seeing them listed for 10-15k off on the dealer sites, before any negotiations? I haven't been following the car, so whats going on?

The 718 GTS 4.0 - 6 Cylinder was announced a few months ago and will be scheduled for delivery in the Fall. The 4 cylinder 718 has never been a huge seller, with the 6 coming, it drastically reduces the desire for the remaining 4

Do you guys also own M2C with your Cayman GTS? I was actually debating between the two cars. I went and drove a 718 Cayman S and was kind of underwhelmed with the 4 cyl. Appreciate any real world owner experience you guys can provide!

I was actually debating between the M2C and Cayman T! Surprised you found the Cayman underwhelming. It's been awhile since I last drove the Cayman, but thought it was fine.

I swap which I like more day by day, it seems.

I love the 718 chassis, it is definitely better than the M2C. I have driven an extensive amount of 981s with NA motors and the 718 on a couple of short occasions. I am between a Cayman GTS 2.5T vs M2C. I was only able to drive a 6 speed manual Cayman S and for some odd reason was just not too impressed with the motor. I think the PDK actually does a nice job of hiding the 4 cyl nature of the motor where as the manual almost exposes it. Getting in the M2C the motor felt like a different league of power, torque and refinement. I was honestly shocked as I love Porsche and I would almost consider myself biased!

I agree, the Cayman 4 bangers that I drove had turbo lag and lack of torque compared to the BMW 6. The Cayman chassis with PASM is definitely a keeper though.

I'm finally starting to see some dealers in other states offering 0% 72 month financing on M2's. Hoping my local dealer does the same.

Thank you for your thoughts! Seems to be pretty unanimous that the 4 cylinder in manual lacks the punch necessary unless you're right in the power band. Also, if one were to get a 4, better get it with PDK to offset some of the sluggishness.
