Update:

Been a month and I found two negatives:

Whatever mode you're in, c/s/s+, GTS TCU is too eager to upshift, but is too lazy to downshift when you want it. Therefore the car feels less responsive and thus slower.

In hidden mode (sequential + MDM) burble is gone. And you have less burble because it always stays at lower rpm ranges.

I suspect that GTS is not fully compatible with m2, so the ECU is always in "comfort" shifting logic.

The car is much smoother in whatever mode no doubts but is less performance oriented also.

I switched back to stock TCU yesterday. The car now holds longer at lower gear and thus the push comes noticeably quicker.

Anyone who did it shares experience?

Different modes seem to have only more aggressive throttle mappings, but the shifting strategies are the same, very much like the comfort mode from stock TCU.

In hidden mode (sequential + MDM) burble is gone. And you hear less burbles due to it's always going to lower rpm ranges when you lift up throttle.

I am speculating that GTS is not fully compatible with m2, so the ECU is always in "comfort" shifting logic, any the display of C and hidden mode gone is any indication.

Hey Sean! Same experience here. Can you please explain how you flashed back to stock TCU? A bunch of us heard you can't just simply flash back to stock tcu. Would love to know how! Thanks!

I think who flashed your car should know how to flash it back, the same process.

I used bootmod3 so I flashed it myself. Supposedly you can't just flash it back so easily with bootmod3. I'll have to ask them.

I was told by PTF there is no flashing back TCU option available from BM3 software.

I did this mod today on my M2.
I only drove the car for 20km so it's too early to give a real feedback.

Does anyone know what "C1", "C2", "C3",... (instead of D) means ?

Anyone know whether M4 transmission drivelogic switch can be retrofitted onto the M2?

The thing about the GTS flash is its made for the M4 with the ability to change transmission aggressiveness. This is why "C" isn't behaving like the stock M2 "D" mode regardless of what mode you're in (Comfort, Sport, Sport +...). BM3 can't do anything about it because it's a BMW software flash for the transmission, and BMW doesn't let you put flash M4 software onto the M2.

Is there a way to code the default transmission settings to be on the medium aggression level? If there is, that would solve eagerness to upshift.

Same question for me. Maybe the M2 "Competition" will solve this problem...

PTF mentioned a couple times they'll be working on TCU when support ticket tapers off. Don't know when that would happen.

I tried bm3 gts dct, but he feels smoother, the upshift is fast, and the reaction is not direct. Is it the same situation?

I used my bm3 to flash the gts into my m2 dct. I did not care for it due to always being comfort mode when in auto (regardless of the sport button setting). In manual it did shift fast but I lost burbles. So I left it for a week to get a good feel for it, then decided to flash back using the bm3. No problems, I was able to go back to the normal stock dct.

Guys,

Great feedback on GTS TCU flash via BM3. Thanks.

Hopefully F87Comp FW flashes won't be too far away from appearing on BM3 ?? Likewise, F8x GTS or CS DSC, Mdiff and ePAS FW flashes via BM3 would be great too.

I hope you are liking it overall.

It should have been like this since day dot. The comfort shifting characteristic is so much better now. It was previously upshifting too late and downshifting too early at 5/6/7 - I mean there's enough torque in these motors.

With a new enough ISTEP ( mid-late 2017 is enough ) you can FDL code GTS or CS, DSC, MDiff ( no change there IIRC ) and EPS, via ESYS or bimmercode if they support it now.

It's all based on FDL code. If someone PM's me I can send you the hex value for the FDL code if you don't have the new ncd/caf mappings to use the drop downs.

DCT is flash only, no coding unfortunately.

I installed the DCT transmission update to GTS. This works great.

However, now the motor is very sluggish. Before the upgrade in SPORT+ the car reacted very quickly to throttle input. Now, it is very lethargic.

So we traded fast throttle response in S+ for weenie response with this. Not a very good trade at all.

I may have to revert back.
