It's a single turbocharger so no it would only have one downpipe.

Aftermarket companies will probably seek to make a minimum 4-inch downpipe for these M2s possibly a 5-inch like CPE did for the N55s that made a good amount of power.

This car will be scary with full bolt-ons..and it definitely sounds better than my F80.

It sounds like in the startups they have the foot on the gas right away.. I doubt it very much it sounds like that considering how conservative the sounds is.. Time will tell I guess.

Delightful!

Now can we make the M4 sound like that... Except a little louder.

As an owner of an f82 with an MPE, I must admit i find this clip very very appealing.
I would be careful to make ultimate relative comparisons though. After all this is a professionally recorded sound clip in special environment with special equipment. You would need to listen back to back to a similarly reocorded f8x clip to make fair statements.
Is the single turbo vs twin turbo setup the primary source of the sound difference?
Also dont forget that for the drivers perception it will boil down to the M4 active sound vs M2 active sound quality )))))

It's a smooth creamy sound but I still find it lacks volume and tone... All you can mainly hear is "turbo" noise.

My 2009 135i (N54 - twin turbo) sounds like the M2 also, but slightly less deep. I have only changed the OE muffler to a louder muffler (Maddad's Eurosport Street Series). ...so to answer your question, i don't think the sound difference is due to a single turbo vs twin turbo.

I also think the M2 sounds way better than the M3/M4.

I've heard both engines in real life. This version of the N55 wins, hands down. As a matter of fact, the S55 is probably the worst sounding turbo I6 makes, stock for stock. And this is coming from someone who is looking at one.

Luckily, exhausts are changeable and you can make the S55 sound way better.

LOL depressing comparison. Pontiac 3800 v6 haha
I could never place it but I think you hit the nail on the head with this one.

The Active Autowerke exhaust is probably the best option.

Agreed, that's the best one yet. And that's without a set of resonators which I still think the car really needs.

Yea, the F80 sounds like ass stock... first to second shift at parking lot speeds is horrendous lol so far the M2 sounds infinitely better. My old 07 335i sounds better than the F80.

Sounds pretty bad to me.... Its like they are over compensating for the lack of actual exhaust sound by having so much exhaust burble.

Uncorked, this thing is going to sound very good on a track! And while I am no expert (or anything close to it), this sounds significantly better than just about any M4 I have heard.
