Track Video: PCA Day at The Ridge Sept 9, 2018
I was out at The Ridge yesterday with the local PCA chapter. I’m driving solo now and have decided to start using video to help catch my bad habits before they get to ingrained. In this case, I noticed I’m leaving my hand on the shifter after each shift for some reason. I don’t normally do this, so I’m not sure why I was yesterday.
Anyway, here’s some track video to help keep this section fresh. Only changes to the car from stock so far are camber plates, alignment, pads and fluid. I’m still trying to use up the stock Continental tires. They’re surprisingly durable on track, if not very grippy. Yes, I’m using the auto-rev match. It’s a fun novelty for now to not have to think about heel toe. I know I’m going to have to wean myself off of it soon so I can turn DSC off. I’m not a fan of any of the various DSC modes. |

Indeed, you need to bring the M2 out more. The TT RS has had its time in the spotlight. (I tried to mention you in my post, but your name is too short to get it to pop up in the drop down)

Congrats on getting out on track. Best investment I have made is 2 Day M School and I got greedy and followed that up with the Advanced M School in February. When you brake down the cost per hour on track and factor in all of the costs of tracking your own car these schools offer great value and the level of instruction is outstanding. If you have some time and a little cash they are a great way to improve very quickly. You get about 6.5 hours a day behind the wheel with great instruction and nothing beats time on track. I get a little frustrated with just 4, 20 min sessions when I do HPDE.
What camber plates did you go with and how much camber do you use? I can tell you the M2 is a whole new animal with Cup 2 tires although for economic reasons I will likely swap to the RE71R when my current track tires are worn. I daily the 4S which is night and day better than the Conti's my car came with so if your looking for a tire that can do both and will give you good wear they are an excellent option. |

That said, I’m strongly considering the advanced M school at thermal over the winter or spring. It looks like a great time on a track I probably wouldn’t otherwise get access to. I didn’t realize it offered that much seat time, so that definitely helps when looking at the costs. I’m using ground control camber plates with 2.7* of camber and zero toe. Rear is adjusted to 1.6*, which was about as much as the tech could get from the eccentrics while keeping toe in spec. Tire wear seems to be pretty even so far on the Contis but I’ll have to re-evaluate when I switch to a grippier tire. I’m probably going to try the Bridgestone S007 when the Contis wear out. They should roughly split the difference between RE71 and PS4 in terms of grip vs tread life, but I’ll have to find out. I’ll benefit more from additional seat time than tires at this point. |

Thanks for the info, if you decide to do Advanced M join BMWCCA and get the 15% discount on the cost of the class. |

I’m a bit slower. The ridge is a great track though. |
