The noise/farts that certain autos or Double clutches make when changing gear is not caused by the speed of the shift or by the gearbox at all. It is caused by Ignition Cut during that gear change. The ECU cutting ignition on gear changes is what makes the noise. Which is why some cars dont make the fart, because they dont cut ignition.

This thread is great for guys like me that just went through all thread and load the videos shared by you guys ...

About the noise of the beasts what can i say - it always claim my attention while driving and a beauty noise comes around .. for what i remember and with all my drive experience the old M5 is the one that have more impressed me ...

Driving a 2L M Edition upward 120km/h it does a native noise that can compare with the dark-horses of this thread but it does satisfy me much i have to admit.

Will look in 2-3 years to get my second bimmer and hopefully i can get something more enthusiastic for my ears ..

for now stay with what we've!

Cheers folks!

Personally?

Umm, well it's a well known fact that the turbo is the limiting factor (before the fuel system) on the N55. Hence, upgrades like the Pure stage 1/2 on the stock fuel system.

It's great that you don't feel that is the case. But, alas, it is. There's an unbelievable amount of information out there on the subject. Just like the other recommendations that you do a bit of research on the M2's motor, perhaps some general research into the N55 is in order as well.

You might want to look at M2_Technical_Training.pdf in the first sticky post, BMW M2 Manual | Catalogue | Presskit | Pricelist

And...?

Where does it say anything about what turbo is being used vs. the "standard" N55?

I didn't indicate that it did. The document does provide written and graphical information relating to the M2's turbocharger. It may or may not yield a definitive answer to the question.

I might suggest looking at the graphics and comparing them to those of an M235i N55. The M2's turbocharger is supposedly further integrated with the intake, probably to help avoid lag, but that does not necessarily mean it's a different turbo.

Just trying to help.

Oh, OK. Thought you were implying the answer existed in there. Looks like the same N55 setup with the amount of detail they give, integrated into the exhaust manifold.

M4 does not fart on upshift just like E92 M3, unless they changed it on 2016+

Sounds like a regular autobox shift, the only fart it does is when TC kicks in 1st/2nd gear or 2nd/3rd.

M235i Turbocharger Part Numbers

On realoem.com, there appear to be two different part numbers for the turbocharger in a 2015 M235i produced through 9/15. This was the latest information available.

Turbo Charger 11657643115 and AT - Turbo Charger 11657648913

When someone finds a reference for M2 part numbers, we will know if it is a different turbo charger. These two parts were used on many models in several series, as one would expect.

I could not determine from the drawings, which are top view on one and bottom view on the other, if the turbocharger was the same or not.
