The coding should be identical. The euro switch part number might not be.

I just want to update the community on a recent finding related to this subject.

I when to do this mod for a friend on a 2016 M4 and I realize that there is no LED backlight for this US-Spec rear fog light button. Which makes sense since it's not activated in the US.

The assumption always was that even on the US-spec switch, behind the dead button, lies a functioning LED and bumpers, to simple DYI the rear fog control, without having to purchase a Euro switch but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Hence, if you code the "rear fog light" mod and replace the button, there still would be no backlit, in some cases..

Anyone planning to do this mod should verify that the switch they currently have, has the required hardware because they seem to vary from vehicle to vehicle.

First of all, thanks to OP and others for the tips in this thread. Very helpful.

It so happens that in the 2018 M2, the rear fog lights is all but useless.
The light is so weak that there's no danger of "blinding" the tailgater with it. I wonder if they'd even notice it.

I modified the bottom button, which turns on the rear fogs.
Is it logical to assume that the top button is for front fogs?
Is there any tips on how to activate it and where the wires would be in the front, if I were to install front fogs?
Not sure how you would run wiring for an aftermarket set up but you can code the front fog button to function with OEM lighting pretty easily:

Appologies for necroing an old thread (not sure if theres a better etiquette here). Im trying to do this mod. Got the buttons modded super easily. Front fog lights fully working with OEM hardware (brightens up the angel eyes). I have the rear fogs coded as installed, and pushing the button lights up the proper icon on the dash.

However... the coding entries for mapping seem to be missing on my car. I have the Nebelschw_L and R entries available for the fronts, but not the corresponding Nebelschlussl_L and R entries.

I'm in a 2017 OG M2. Fully stock except for some very light coding.

Anyone have any ideas? Seems like this worked fine for most. Could it be an iDrive version or something along those lines?

Make sure you are in the rear electronic module and in Lce Lamp Mapping 2.

Of COURSE it's the REM. This dummy was still in the FEM. Thank you I'm sure that solved my issue!
