S55 harmonic damper

I just saw this on instagram today, so incase any of you M2C and M2CS owners are interested, VAC motorsports and ATI are making harmonic dampers for the S55 engine.

If it is true that harmonics are making the crank bolt back out, this could be a potential solution.

Or this could just be a replacement for anyone who's stock damper failed.

I guess the question I have is, how do we know it's even as good as the OEM part? Without data I would be hesitant.

It's almost certainly not going to yield any more power.

No clue about reliability vs. stock.

My take is it's meant for those people with OEM harmonic balancer that tend to disintegrate over time like the e46 m3. But for our platform idek if it'll make a difference because I've never seen one of our balancers fail before.

In terms of how good it is vs. Stock, I trust ati to do a good job since they have a fantastic track record and are on alot of extremely high powered supras. Like real street's supra.

Never seen nor heard of a balancer causing issues on S55. Looks like an expensive solution in search of a problem.

I dont trust these after market options merely due to lack of data and evidence. These aftermarket options dont put in even a fraction of time into R&D that oems to to ensure reliability of the piece.

ati makes incredibly well engineered items with incredible precision to match the stock engine. They're obviously not going to release their balancing and harmonics data because it's extremely expensive to obtain.

The proof that their stuff works is that they're often used on some of the most high horse power cars on the planet, for example the real street performance supra that makes 1600 whp+.
