I'm thinking of keeping the competition wheels on the car and doing four layers of ceramic coating to protect them how do you guys feel about the M2 competition wheels as a classic BMW wheel?
For now I'm keeping my 788M's until I can find a set of Orbit Grey 763M's.

My issues with the 788's are:

1.) I. HATE. CLEANING. IT. I would Ceramic Coat it.....but...

2.) I'm still not in love with the "squared" off mesh pattern. They look fine, but they never really "wowed" me.

That and I find that a lot of OG M2ers like them as well and want them.

Aftermarket wise, I haven't really seen any that really suits the car that well to be honest. That and I'm weird and much prefer really nice OEM's.

They look hot, they're full forged and weighs about 6lbs lighter than the stock wheels. That makes a discernible difference in speed and handling.

UGH I WANT THESE SO BADDDDD. Orbit GREYYYYY
You're very right.

The e36, 46, 90, and even f80 all look good with the classic style of comp wheel from the e46 m3 or the much loved apex arc 8.

Strangely enough I also have yet to see a wheel that is the holy grail for this car.

Except for the HRE 300..I want that wheel.[/IMG]

The wheels have grown on me a little. These are ceramic coated and clean up easily with a weekly spray down (I probably drive 150 miles a week, or almost a full tank of gas!).

I personally think the Apex EC-7 or any classic basketweave/Motorsport design will look great on any BMW.

For my car specifically (LBB), I think painted bright silver is by far the most timeless finish. Then polished aluminum would be second.

I haven't washed these by hand in about 4-5 washes.

The thing that throws me off of the 788 wheels were the coloring. The design itself is great. I had mine powder coated gloss black and it made a world of a difference. The wheels now have more depth.

Love the 763's, these are Satin Black. I boxed up the original rims.

Easy to clean, only 3 or 4 cuts on your knuckles getting in there and about 35 minutes... 😐

I still got my 641 winter shoes on (tho it was 60 degrees today)

Forget BBS's forget Apex, Teddy's are the new classic design for 2020

Do the Teddy Bears clear the big brakes?

I ceramic coated the wheels (and calipers) on my car, major game changer for sure with the OEM pads making as much dust as they do.

I like to practice with the thought process of pick whatever wheel you like....but with a caveat. It better make your lil M2 look good because if it doesn't, you'll be making the rest of us look bad!

Here's my thought process on that; some modded honda Civics look good yeah? No, they don't! Because of the few dudes that stance'd them out and put coffee can exhausts on, that whole genre is now tainted. Don't do that to the M2 crowd!

I dunno, I still like a nice modded Civic. The ones that are done well really stand out thanks to all the ones that aren't.

Plus...I hate to say it, but that ship has already sailed for the M2......
