I was thinking about that the other day when I saw an new z4 pass me. I really hope they try to compete with the AMG GT with a z4m

Been thinking the same. Tough decision as they are both such good cars in their own right

Agree with the interior not living up to the price tag. And it's really my only complaint about my OG...too much plastic leading to way too many creeks and rattled. I would expect better for CS money.

But just like my OG, I'm sure it's easy to overlook given the fun factor behind the wheel.

Get an M2 while you can, future BMWs aren't likely to be as good as this!
I don't have a single rattle on my 2018 M2C and LOVE the analog dials to the same level that I dislike BMWs current gauge cluster.

Plenty of reviews of the M2C talk about the cooling package from the M4 Comp pkg. I really don't think the M2 CS has any other cooling add ons. The M2C already has great cooling.

I think the answer is no, that's how they get people to pay €100k

My understanding is that the cooling system has been beefed up from M2C to M2CS but I'm not sure what that means really.

There is more oil I believe: 7 liters instead of 6.5....

The car is great, no doubt. I like it a lot and I have had many M cars, but not the M2 yet.

I do agree with other posters about the interior though, they could have done better, a digital speed readout has been great in my e92 and HUD in my newer cars. Seats, steering wheel, some additional add ons in the interior would have gone a long way to make this car even more special for owners. I like that this car it more useable than a GT4 and the back seats are a big plus. So it is a mixed bag inside for me, the rest of this M2 is phenomenal.

Is the manual really that notchy, I remember my e36 M3 being like that, many people ended up with the dreaded money downshift blowing up their engines

Covered in some other threads, but in interviews with BMW it is part of the smoothing of the airflow, and also part of crash protection - muffler goes down in impact.
YT comment about the 'cow udder':
Quote:
I spoke to the M2 project lead of BMW M and he explained to me the reason for the ugly exhaust bulge hanging under the back of the car.
The reason is crash safety of the rear end of the car. The main reason it is hanging so low is that when you have a rear impact from someone else driving into the back of you, the exhaust slides downwards and not upwards plus inwards.
This was the official reason to hang the rear muffler so low, while we all know there is a lot of space above the rear muffler. They could have put it higher into the bodywork, but crash safety stopped them from doing it.
The shape of the backbox has all to do with the emission regulations and the fact that the car had to be homologated for all countries across the world. A cost decision was made to have a system that works across all markets and not different systems for different markets.

I don't feel like the 6MT is notchy, and have found the throws to be pretty smooth. however my last 3 BMWs have all been 6MT so maybe i dont notice it and I'm just used to it?

I do agree the clutch feels a little light and "springy"...when I drive my F30 335 back to back with my OG, I prefer the weight and more linear feel of the F30 clutch.

At 12:09 they say that they wouldn't mind the addition of a digital speedometer.

So it appears that they did not notice that the on-board computer already features that (push the upper button on the stalk on the left to scroll through the data and select the digital speedometer - in the iDrive you can select/deselect most OBC info).

Not trying to troll but the MB GTR Black is near $400k.

You could also say BMW can't complete with Porsche GT2 RS.

As to the M2CS I'll probably be looking for a used one in a few years.

I think that previous comment was brand vs brand rather than model vs model.

It's true, BMW doesn't compete in the supercar or high end sports car segment. I don't think you have to compete and win in ALL segments all the time to be a viable auto manufacturer.

An auto manufacturer is a business and a business exits to make money for its shareholders, if it has any, and it's employees/owner(s). If it makes the money without a supercar, that's fine.

For me it was a pass in favor of a 718 GT4 which has received universal acclaim in a way the previous gen did. I personally don’t think anything matches a high rev, NA engine especially as good as this car is.
I like the M2CS quite a bit but this 6MT (prob best put in a car after the 997 GT cars), the looks, the dynamics and magnificent engine are a combo that is unbeatable for me except for a GT4RS or GT3/RS.

I'm pretty sure that you are correct. Apparently there is a slight difference in the shape of the oil pan of the M4 Comp. I doubt that the oil pan in the M2CS is different than the one in the M2C though.

There is a diff between the M3/4 Comp (6.5 liters) and M3/4 CS (7 liters) and I think that the M2 CS has the same oil capacity than M3/4 CS.

My M2C has 19k miles on it. I can report that when new the 6mt was stiff. Shifting was not perfect, some if it was because it was new linkage some if it was because I was not used to it. After 19k miles the linkage is broken in and shifting is perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you. I thought I must be going crazy. My wife's M235i had a digital Speedo option through the stalk button and I was thinking surely they didn't deprecate that in the M2. I'll know for sure in a few weeks but if any owners can confirm that would be great.
