Joe - sold out. Who paid him for that review???

Am I one of the few that likes the revs to stay higher on the hwy? I liked to keep my ftype in dynamic mode because it would keep the car in a gear that kept the rpm around 3k. This was perfect for keeping the car responsive at hwy speeds. When it was in normal mode and would drop to 1800rpm it was a dog until it downshifted. That was a long winded way of saying that I probably won't mind 6th gear on the hwy.

Interesting that the CCB's are the brakes experiencing fade and reduced feel on track. That shouldn't be the case.

He mentioned in a previous video that it may be the caliper to wheel gap not allowing enough heat to escape the caliper. This is a recipe for expensive track days. That being said they are best used on the street, and this phenomenon may be of benefit in that environment. It might keep them warmed up for better initial bite around town.

Other than less brake dust (and cool factor), I can't think of any benefit the CCBs have over the steel brakes during in town driving. Even if the lack of venting helps keep some heat in them during city driving, they still aren't likely biting as hard as the steel brakes will in that sort of usage.

What is town driving?
We talking spirited driving or puttering through town in first gear?
I can feel the difference between heavy and light wheels so I expect 55lbs for the CCBs will also be noticed, it will certainly be appreciated in my mind irregardless of measurable effect, clean wheels and eye candy too.
I suspect the gigantic brake backing plates on the front CCBs could be the driver for Joe's complaints. I'd remove those before any track events.

It may be solved by proper cooling ducts. I look forward to those that drive the CS with and without ccb back to back around town. I think there will be a different in feel, but no one has mentioned it in any reviews.

I also just wonder about the pads themselves. The weight of this car, and the size of these rotors, there just shouldn't be any good reason for them to be overheating.

Havent track the car and probably wont track it , but i can say when the car is cold , and brakes too , it doesnt stop well , but in just half hour , when the brakes take some heat , stop very well. No overheating problems or so , ofc i will see them in summer where the temperatures here are mostly 40 degrees from June (sometimes May) until Octomber ! But the car definetely stops far better than my OG M2.

Where is the track in Cyprus? I know there is one there because they showed it on the third episode of Top Gear this year. They never said where it was.

I've run quite a few different pads on BMW's and other cars I've tracked for various reasons over the years and generally found that compounds are never tested on street or autocross use etc. no matter the temp. Hit certain tracks and a few laps in the compounds utterly wilt under the conditions. On my E36 it was a nightmare, and I couldn't duct for various reasons. A few different attempts and I finally got to a compound that can withstand the temps I need lap after lap without modifications to the braking system, but I'm sure it is hell on the rotors!
